Novice Hurdlers 2014/15

Is this going to be another WPM carve up? Allez C, Valseur Lido and Annie Power all look to have very good chances.

€50,000 to the winner and this is a **** poor turnout in what again is likely to be a schooling session for the WPM battalion. No More Heroes could test them but with the exception of Venetia, shame on the UK trainers for not having a go.

As I've said earlier, I'm really keen to see how Max Dynamite's season goes but the fact the Ruby's jocked up on him in a much lower grade race tomorrow would imply that they either think he's not up to this level or not ready for it yet.

Conversely the fact that Mullins could have mopped this up with any number of proven novices, in sending out Allez Colombieres to make his debut in a G1 must speak volumes of his opinion of the horse. Albeit his recent Royal Bond runners haven't gone on to be top of the stable tree, with the notable exception of Champagne Fever who was turned over in the race by Jezki before reversing places in March.

With nothing so far standing out over here and this seemingly Willie's first string for Sunday it could be worth taking the 10's now for the Supreme - even before we've seen the horse set foot on a racecourse

Incidentally (and taking the man's words literally is always a leap of faith), Douvan who is the current market contender to AC received the following update in the RP stable tour "...Douvan who won over hurdles in the summer and should do well in staying novice hurdles"

Jollyallan caught my eye first time out and goes in the first at Newbury today. A disappointing turnout and unlikely to learn much, but still hope to see him run well </SPAN>

Oops.

Hope the horse is okay but a hugely disapponting start to the career of Allez Colombieres. Pulled up soon after the start :(

AC's injury was fatal. Real shame, I think we've been robbed of seeing something special. Mullins running him 1st time up in a grade 1 spoke volumes.

There are a couple of good novice hurdles today

The Grade 2 at Sandown is usually a decent race (Fingal Bay v Simonsig a few years ago) and am interested in Tara Point but was hoping for bigger prices

Also Hello George at Exeter should win, but looks short enough

What did everybody make of Zeroshadesofgrey?

A dual winner in bumpers before getting found out in the festival bumper, he's improved with every run over hurdles and was very impressive today at Doncaster where he jumped very soundly and effortlessly put a distance between himself and the rest of the field giving away 12lbs to most of his rivals.

Cost only €8,500 as a three year old but is related to good hurdlers Spirit Leader and Sonnyanjoe.

He's clearly smart. Juice in the ground is probably fairly vital to him. A step up in class clearly awaits.

That's a huge statement imo. Willie always sends his best 2m 4f Novice to this race.
Think he has won it last 4 years in a row with Briar Hill, Pont Alexandre and Boston Bob in the last 3.
No More Heroes looks a bit special and with the ground Yielding/Soft today, it bodes well for the Neptune.
8/1 Fav now after that.

Had a feeling he would turn him over. Smart performance.
Could be something over fences.
