Punchestown 2012

Refreshing to see that alright. It's all fair to say she has sporting owners and to a point she clearly does but come on risk a loss with the gain being a greater legacy, immortality is a bit strong but you know what I mean

When you see the footage of the Buck House v Dawn Run race you can't help but think to yourself that it was an amazing clash. Big Buck's V Quvega would be similar. Connections of both horses are understandably conservative and sticking to a tried and trusted plan.

That match was brought about more by the greed of one side than any great sporting thought.....

Is that a bad thing? I remember when there was talk of a 1 million match between Dubai Millennium V Montjeu. If it had happened out a greed, racing would have been the winner.

Hard to assess any of today's winners in the conditions. The horse that hacked up in the handicap hurdle having been first reserve could get 2 stone on literal reading of the form. Having said that he's clearly a serious animal.

Buckers Bridge certainly does Harry - was there when he won his Maiden P2P at Maralin last November, to say connections were delighted would be an understatement.

Ground was bottomless so likely the winning distance was exagerated and Ted Veale travelled very well into the straight so probably another to keep an eye on for next season.

Smart money for Ted Veale Martin and as you say he travelled ominously turning in. It wouldn't be Pubchestown if it wasn't a strong bumper.

No mention of Flash of Genius from yesterday. Hard to know what he beat and again absolutely atrocious conditions but he sluiced up...literally. My horse to take out of the week so far.

Any of our crew been there this week?

When you say crew do you mean 'the clique'? Under the Anglo Gigilo-Vidkatini-Slim Chance treaty I can only declare that I've never been a member, director or benefactor of said group.

I'm sorry!

Any of our members/posters

We are far, far away from a crew

Haven't you heard - were borrowing cup fulls of sugar from the Germans, we cannot afford to look sideways....

I've been very patient all week with the ground etc but the course looked less like a swimming pool this evening so am going to have a go at Hobb's two tomorrow.
Menorah chased the aeroplane in Cheltenham but showed a glimmer of the potential a lot of us thought he had in his last two races. FL has not convinced with his jumping out of slow ground and I cannot see him winning a Grade 1 chase over two miles despite the glue like ground. I cannot see anything else troubling Menorah.
Colour Squadron would have been a closer second to Simonsig than Felix Younger was at in their respective meetings. He has fallen in two out his last three but still remains a horse of considerable talent and potential. At the prices I would side with him and hedge ew if the dead 8 remain. Some firms are going 1/4 odds. Mullins horses have been literally walking on water this week so far so FY remains a huge threat. Cannot have Dedigout and connections of Rebel Fitz are hoping to fill one of the places. I would imagine the Galway Hurdle is on his agenda.
Hobbs has a very decent record at this meeting and hopefully these two go close tomorrow.
Find it difficult to understand why more British trainers don't target the huge pots on offer.

David pipe has had a go more than usual?

Weekend Millionaire ran a fine race

I think he's gone off his horses Harry - he's had runners in France and Ireland this week, seems he wants them as far away from the yard as possible.
