Punchestown 2012

Form book gives me that impression

I thought so too, initially, but 2 of Quevega's best 3 t/s figures were earned on ground with a 'hvy' in the description, and she certainly performed well enough in the 09 Irish Champion on ground the RP timed as heavy.
Couldn't split them, myself.

The ground of yesterday and today is officially described as heavy. It in fact is sloshy, quick sand type no traction moving from under your hooves type ground. No horses running today have form on this ground.

I heard Mullins had his horses on diarrhetics so they'd have a good sh!t beforehand to ensure maximum buoyancy.

That's inside information.

That was a hugely enjoyable race. Not many get me going without a bet. That was a superb race.

Brilliant from Quevega. Voler La Vedette looked all over the winner until after the last bend. Class.

A terrific race.

Did Andrew Lynch mistakenly think approaching the straight that he had to get after Mourad, that Quevega was not going to get to him?

A terrific race.

I thought he would sit off Quvega until after the last.

I thought he took a chance to try and get away from her....with a normal animal it would have worked. For Q to still have that much in the tank in those conditions is stunning.

I didn't mean to suggest VLV might have won, just that Andrew Lynch got sucked into going after Mourad rather than keeping an eye on Quevega. As OTB says, the response from Quevega was pretty amazing.

Robert Hall was superb in his two interviews. First he grilled Ruby Walsh on Quvega taking on Big Buck's and than he got stuck into Dear Leader Enda Kenny. Great TV.

67.25 today, they cap the maximum at 30, gives a running total of 113.25 for 2 days, lets just hope that they get enough of the rest of the meeting on.

Favourite points 80 today which with only 5 races is good, running total 155, 365 the target.

34.35 today, 147.6 so far, 31.9 required & we've 2 days to go (hopefully) and we've missed 6 races already.

Favs another 65 today, 220 to date.

I wish I could find it online. He basically said that the public wants to see Quvega take on Big Buck's and her stablemate (Hurricane Fly). 'Why should she?' said Ruby, Hall replies 'it would be a great race'. Ruby said 'why go for a race you won't be favourite', Hall replies 'it's too easy for her Ruby'.

It was a top class from Hall. A lesser interviewer would have shirked and kept Ruby sweet.
