No way is VPU a 170 animal. Timeform had him at 163 last year and he hasn`t improved.Originally posted by Gareth Flynn@Mar 13 2008, 02:47 PM
They also have VPU at 170 at his best, which would give MM 189.

It was "crap" in comparision to the the recent greats...Moscow Flyer, Azertyuiop and Well Chief.
VPU is a long way behind either of them and the rest are in a different parish.
But because Master Minded won so well he deserves that rating. Does not make it a strong renewal though.

Wow. We`re talking like 20lbs here not half a stone. You`ve gotta be fishing.Originally posted by Charlie D@Mar 13 2008, 03:30 PM
Azertioup, Well Chief were in VPE's category - Good
Moscow Flyer was like the horse we have just seen - exceptional

Again, agree. Maybe even 191/192.Originally posted by Gareth Flynn@Mar 13 2008, 02:47 PM
Any rating will probably have to be based on Schindlers Hunt, beaten 36 lengths.
The RP have him consistently at his best at 152, which would give MM a 188.
They also have VPU at 170 at his best, which would give MM 189.
188 or 189 would put Fair Along on ~153, which is half a stone less than his best to date.
Throw in something for style and you've got a perfectly arguable case for a 190.
And collateral form backs it up. Dempsey and Ashley Brook were of a similar level of ability. The former only just got beat by VPU in last years QM - the latter was thrashed by Well Chief in the Game Spirit, and it`s a fair punt that impressive though he was that dayOriginally posted by Galileo@Mar 13 2008, 03:52 PM

Disagree...Well Chief and Azertyuiop were a grade up from VPU.
Agreed Charlie and I think Denman is clearly better than that. But he is such a short price that, to me, an awful lot is being taken on trust that he is as good as people think. We know Kauto is a 180 plus horse yet Denman is challenging for favouritism.Originally posted by Charlie D@Mar 13 2008, 06:07 PM
Using collateral form of The Listener, Denman is not going to finish in first 10 of GC
I think that shows you what use the A beat B by X, A beat C by Y , so B will beat C by Z thinking is
You don't have to have a bet GalOriginally posted by Galileo@Mar 13 2008, 05:13 PM

He was very impressive Colin wasn't he and i don't think we'll see a better performance this seasonOriginally posted by Colin Phillips@Mar 13 2008, 05:28 PM
I think the most impressive part of Master Minded's performance was the superb jumping.
He just took them in his stride and stepped over them.
Shades of Crisp at Aintree.
