Qm Champion Chase

What do we think is Fair Along's best ground. He has won and all surfaces but I feel genuine soft ground might just suit.

For me, his best performances have been with a bit of cut. If he's ridden positively and keeps his jumping together, I can see him being in the fray.

Difficult to work out the race with the likely soft going now, but I think I am going to back both Voy Por Ustedes and Fair Along. Voy Por Ustedes has to put a disappointing run at Newbury behind him when he was put firmly in his place by Master Minded, but they didn’t go much of a gallop that day and that wouldn’t have played to his strengths. He is a solid 2 miler and a relentless galloper who sees out the trip well, so the fast pace of the race will suit him, with Fair Along and Newmill likely to take them along at a decent clip, and he should be bang there at the business end. Master Minded was very impressive at Newbury but Paul Nicholls thinks he didn’t see out the 2 and a half miles in France and is all speed. He will need to see out the trip here and with the likely soft going I wouldn’t be confident of him doing so. Fair Along has been in good form and seems to be back to something like his best. Has been written off by some but on last year’s form he would not have as much to find as people might think, and Richard Johnson considers him one of his best rides of the week. He is versatile regarding ground conditions, and if he runs up to his best he could be very hard to peg back.

I`m glad my bets were voided because i`ve gone off Tamarinbleu now. I`ve just gone small win and place on Fair Along but i`m also keeping an eye on Twist Magic`s price - if he goes over 6 on Betfair i`m stepping in.

VPU:

Beaten 5l by Master Minded.
Beaten 3l by Twist Magic.

Yet still fav. Baffling. shrug::

As AK just observed, VPU was beaten in the same races last year!
And AK is brilliant at training them for the day, as a general rule...

I've got a little on MM from after his big win, and even less on Tamarinbleu
- praying for a result here as have nothing in any bank now...
None of my 3 e/w in the Jewson was placed which amazed and appalled me :what:
Lord Ryeford 5th I think :rolleyes: It's that kind of week

Punting wise, if VPU or Tamrinbleu don't win I'll struggle to have a good day, if Master Minded and Twist Magic don't feature in the first 2, I'll struggle not to have a great day!

I need MM to win too - badly! - but not so nervous as I would be with Ashley Brook in the field!

WOW that was some exhibition - another 5 year old victory too :clap:

Tamarinbleu never happy really - went out very quickly after being taken on - sulked!
