Racing Post website and newspaper

Site still doesn't work for me, pages re-load every 5 seconds rendering it useless. I'm running safari on a mac but never had a problem. Thankfully I recently stop subscribing; their rank incompetence and willingness to be the lackies of the bookmaking industry just makes me sick. The whole site is terrible even when it isn't malfunctioning.

A shame this as when i got into racing about 15 years ago it was a reasonable paper, if a tad pricey. Now.....

The only thing that can be gleaned from the 'performance' of the Racing Post these days, is that they simply do not give a toss.

It is no longer a Racing 'newspaper' - it is Oddschecker in print format.

#shitbox

I still use the form database, PJ. It's the only thing they do well, which probably means it's an import from somewhere competent.

McNamara: stewards dragged racing into gutter by not revealing Townend response

The man hasn't got a clue and he is 100% wrong The RP saw the chance of a story involving him who doesn't even have a runner at the meeting and are of course exploiting him IMVHO

Having ran an retail outlet in the past..the first thing you learn is when an angry customer come storming in the door you let them run the course and say nothing...when they get no response they simply run out of things to say and calm down.

The social media went nuts and the Irish Authorities decided the best thing to do was not to add coal to the fire and just let it burn out. Then they gave their explanation of what happened.

To do so during a storm would have just worsened the situation

RP going with "Could Might Bite or Native River become the first winner of chasing's Triple Crown"

Never heard of Kauto Star then ffs

full page ad in the post today

shameful

B@stards have an annoying pop up now after a few seconds accessing the site inviting you to trial one month's free access to Members Club Ultima Package whatever that is.Even a refresh will not get rid of the bloody thing.

On my mobile I was getting every page referring me to a "choose your bookmaker" page, with no option to ignore. Made the site completely unusable.

Wrote them ln March about these pop ups. Their reply below:

Hope it helps.

Thanks reet but there is no 'X'

However I have re-enabled a free bit of software called AdBlocker Plus I had which prevents it popping up.

I see a few well known names are taking voluntary redundancy from the RP including Graham Dench, Jon Lees and Alistair Down although I think the latter may still contribute on a freelance basis. The word is they feel they can no longer work with Bruce Millington and were delighted to be offered a way out.

Meanwhile, the Post is advertising all over Twitter for "Racing Journalist opportunities"; the plan presumably being to replace the aforementioned 'worthies', with pre-pubescent eager-beavers, who will unquestioningly do the bidding of the idiot Editor.

If only The Sportsman had had the savvy to produce their first edition ahead of the 2006 Cheltenham Festival, instead of the week after. A missed opportunity to consign the shitbox to the bin.

Toxic is the word currently being used about the environment at the Racing Post.

I really don't understand why the owners don't step in and sort it out. Surely they must have had significant feedback around the multiple issues the current management team are responsible for.

CV and Cover Letter sent....!

Thanks for putting this up btw. I hadn't noticed it.

I'd heard all was not well there so this doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It amazes me how arrogant the Editor must be. But then again I did a piece for a well-known Equine & Dog magazine a few weeks ago - 350 words of a point to point report from a Sunday meeting. OK not much but I did it to the word the deadline being Monday morning at 10am which I did fine despite getting home quite late from the point to point. It was exactly as they asked - a few quotes and some references to hunting. I read my published piece - completely different! And now badly written with poor English but still my name on it. I have been asked to do next Sunday's meeting at Bratton Down which I will do but I wonder what the point is - the Editor may as well just ask for the main points and write her own piece if she's that controlling.

IIRC, the last time I had a letter published in the Weekender it had been edited slightly. I didn't mind that. What I minded was that the headline bore no resemblance to the point I was making!

Anyone else constantly getting the error below? Been happening all week
