Road to the Champion Chase 2011

Get over your love of Henry - none of those ran their race. Funny how when it's not a horse everyone has backed (SE) no-one can accept horses haven't run their race. When it's long run and few here backed him, it's simple - the others didn't run their race. Or maybe it's the usual Irish bias nonsense on here.

Absolute nonesnse. Get over your Sizing bashing. You don't like him, fair enough. Don't bring him into every debate then.

FWIW not too many were on him in last years Arkle as it happens. Luke and I certainly were but plenty on here (many Irish) were against him

Also really amazing that Sizing was the only horse to run his race that day. Maybe its just the usual Hamm bias nonsense on here

Yes I possibly misread that Shadow. It's hard to be objective about form though when the 'trainers a load of shite comments' keep coming up. Not many would get a horse so close to Master Minded today. Maybe I misread them comments on here as well. By and large I think it's an excellent forum though.

Are you able to study a formbook? The bias is elsewhere.

Granger, there was no insult - it's a question. You clearly can't if you can't see where I'm
coming from.

I think the insult was coming from you.

Take your own advice and read my post properly.

Hamm I would like you to address the Kicking King point - because he or any other novice improves as a second season chaser does that mean he under performed in his novice season as that is what you seem to be suggesting. Because of the level Somersby showed today that is what you are basing your opinion on him under performing in the Arkle?

Clearly you don't get out enough - I was joking, hence the smiley. Ask Cantoris, who can banter, how he took it. I think he can be a 170 horse, as does DJ - is he trolling too?

I'm not understanding some of this..you have liked Somersby all season..you now think he is a 170 horse..but SE isn't up to much in your opinion.

are you saying that last years Arkle was a good race now then?

Who said the trainers a load of shite?

Yep

I only said Hen Knight was bat-shit crazy, but that was years ago and on a diferrent forum.

Hamm, Gal makes a valid point - you can get beat and still run right up to form. You seem to be suggesting that Somersby was probably capable of both winning the Arkle, and running to a very high mark in doing so, if only he hadn't underperformed on the day. There simply isn't any formbook evidence to prop that theory up, I'm afraid.

The time of the race looks fast if the going is correct and to my eye Master Minded ran below his best but not by much - imo we are seeing a progressive chaser in Somersby who is improving with every race and could very well step up again come the festival. It's just a shame Petit Robin didn't put in a clear round.

Somersby will carry my money at the festival.

In which race SC? I think he has only a small chance left handed in the Champion as he's not an out and out two mile championship horse IMO. I would love to see him have a crack at the Ryanair - the likely quicker ground would not be as big an issue in that race for him I think. He certainly ran a serious race today on his ground!

Captain Cee Bee is very positive in the market again. I can only think that the horse must show them an awful lot at home because on his last run he is completely out of it.

It's hard to see him troubling the big two on even the best of what he's shown. Maybe McCoy reported back that MM is beatable! He seemed to do everything to get him beat today - travelled wide, flung him at every second fence and went for home way way too soon! Is it just me or does McCoy seem to be able to get every horse he rides off the bridle miles from home??:ninja: I'm certain he would be pumping and slapping at Nijinsky at the four furlong pole.

I can't believe MM has drifted. He travelled, he jumped well apart from the third last I think, and just got tired in that ground with the trainer leaving something to work on for the Festival. Somersby is a future Gold Cup contender imo and just stayed on really well.

I'd prefer to see him in the Ryanair if the going was g/soft or better and Q.M. on soft.

For the benefit of some of the souls who confuse an opinion with trolling, please see page 9 in today's post; master minded and somersby both given rpr's of 171 for yesterday. Big zeb's best this season listed at 165. I know a genuine point of view can be a difficult concept for some to grasp so this should clear things up.

Good summary.
