Road to the Champion Chase 2011

Dunno if I can agree with that, Gal.

The Champion Chase is nothing more than a match, and as we all know, Hurricane Fly will piss-up in the Champion Hurdle. :D

The faster they go, the better he will be, OTB.

Hurricane Fly will prove himself in a different league to this crop of 2m hurdlers.

There, I said it. :p

Brave words G, brave words - it's building up to be the race of the festival and maybe of the year! Despite having backed both Peddlers and Menorah I'd love to see the Hurricane turn up and have a rattle. He has always been a horse Ive been blind to after laying him to lose at Punchestown last year. I have to say he looked pretty awesome the other day.

Seriously contemplating going lumpy on Masterminded and half lumpy on Big Zeb NRNB tying up a nice profit should either do it - surely nothing else will touch these two - at 2/1 and 4/1. Should anything befall either in the meantime the others price will collapse. Woolcome Folly cannot get near these can he?? - he seems the only possible fly in the ointment??
This race seems the most straighforwrd at this stage or am I missing something??

Thanks for the maths - I may be the only one in the world but have a feeling Big Bucks is going to get done in the stayers - no science involved just a gut instinct that his run is nearing an end!

He can't jump hurdles either!!!! (sorry Mounto xx)

Seriously, I love Reve, he could be a machine. IMHO what he needs is serious, intensive schooling though. He's clumsy, but he's not so bad that without practice he couldn't improve a lot. His jumping LTO wasn't great but was still better than the run before. If he were mine, I'd be running him around Taunton [or a suitably similarly small track] as a 1/4 shot to let him have a saunter around and crucially, gain confidence jumping.

God I thought you were talking about Kimberlite King there for a minute!!

I was very strong on Big Bucks last year at a bigger price (he and Binocular carried my Cheltenham). Less so this year, but obviously he is a worthy favourite. When horses like this are beaten it tends to come in the big races when the best are competing. So while he is the clear favourite he is too short and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if he’s beaten.
If Long Run’s jumping falls apart in the KG he may well go for the World Hurdle. I’ve taken 10/1 NRNB, my only position in this year’s renewal so far. Also, if Zaynar returns to a bit of form he could do well in this.

Big Buck's looks stronger and more straightforward than ever this year, and has a stone in hand and more of anything he is likely to face. He is an absolute certainty.

One thing's for sure. He'll be tested a lot more than he has been so far this season in the big one. I'm less confident than I was last year and you won't get rich siding with him this time.

Not sure I agree with that at all, Steve. Who will BB face in March that he hasn't already cantered all over? Mourad maybe, but that's about it, and he has zero to fear from that one in form terms.
