Royal Ascot 2021

Haqeeqy (Hunt Cup) won a big field Lincoln cosy, held up off a strong pace. Lto was a small field, run at an average pace, and Jim Crowley was never able to drop him in. Tomorrow's race will be more up his street and he looks a solid bet.
Well backed already, but some 9/1 available.
My Oberon (POW) runs in first-time blinds tomorrow, which suggests he didn't see his race out, lto. As that was in the gp1 Ispahan, and he was only beaten a neck he's a bet for me,
Maybe tho books know something I don't, but 25/1 upwards looks a barmy price.

2yo race no interest
boat race even less interest
Agincourt ew and we w/o fav. Second last year, overpriced although she did benefit from a pace collapse twelve months ago.
Can't pick between Armoury and Lord North. Bet could be laying Love who has never run over the trip nor beaten a Group 1 horse
This might be the best race of the meeting. Grove Ferry, Matthew Flinders two trackers I must back, Brunch added. Haqeeqy solid also but can't do four
2yo race no interest
It's not exactly Cheltenham is it, I've never heard of any of these in the last.

Lousy opening day, everything i backed got cabbaged looking for a run(Lord Glitters, Kings Lynn, Royal Illusion, Blue Cup)

Backed Love in the POW, and Double or Bubble in the 3.40, think Lucander is overpriced in the 5.00 runs well in big fields

Kemari and Stowell in the 3.05 could be anything and are attractive prices

Looked like Battash needed the run there..
As Jason Weaver pointed out, Battaash posted a 10.5 secs furlong about 2 out, which, effectively, off a strong pace, was the end of him.
Jockey error, imo.

Reckon Champers Elysee (3.40) is a fast ground filly, on both pedigree and her Matron win on ground officially g/f at Leopardstown. No surprise she bombed out on her 2 runs this season, though they should ensure her fitness today.
Looks a solid ew play @12/1 (4 places) on Betfair.

First day casualties: Doyle got 3 days for Ebro River. Buick 11, yes eleven for Rheshoun. Curtis got 4 days for Naamoos.

Themaxwecan got a 6 month holiday after a second red card after 3 yellows at the stall.

If they have watered last night, I'll bet they watered the 5 horses wide strip up the stand side that looked whiter than everywhere else on the course, and I thought I heard it mentioned yesterday that they would be moving the inside rail for fresh ground..

I see some excellent long shots with good reasoning being put forward, but in the Hunt Cup I'm hoping Irish Admiral goes very close. You definately have to put a line through the last run. William Haggas can be lethal in a big handciap with an unexposed type off a light weight like Irish Admiral.

Looking forward to today.

Like it. Irish Admiral and Matthew Flinders my two.

Hoping the Ardad/Boughey combination 's success in juvenile races continues on this stage.
Escobar my handicap cliff horse , every racing fan needs at least one !
Agincourt interesting in fillies race, second last year and after a wind op, might be ew value.

An OK day yesterday massively boosted by Juan!
Today....harder!
I think the US filly will probably win the first. Trainer is bullish and it’s what he does (whether I approve or not!). If she doesn’t win then I like Illustrating and Desert Dreamer.
Prefer Kyprios in the Vase to the fav and quite like Stowell too.
I rewatched the Newmarket race which LB won and there wasn’t much between the first three. Lavenders Blue is now 3lb better off and she has a proper fast ground action. I too like Agincourt ew.
I think Love will win. Have DF with My Oberon.
Hunt Cup....... Sharpened my pin and gone for Irish Admiral and Haqeeqy (he won the Lincoln like a very good horse). I may back something else too.
US can’t be ignored but have backed Armor and Spring is Sprung. And Ernies Valentine catches my eye too.
Lights On and Stunning Beauty in the last.

Good luck again all!

Nice to see Cheerupsleepyjean leave her last run on softer ground behind.

I don’t know if there’s another Irish trainer with the name Stack (excuse my ignorance) but someone said on racing radio that the Stacks don’t waste time entering horses (assume they mean over here) if they don’t stand a chance. One of those things that has stuck in my mind.

Indie Angel progressed through handicaps last season to winning a listed race but even then you would have struggled to fancy her today especially on last two outings.

When Dettori's on a horse you've always got a chance.

I think he judged the pace best (as he often does) and benefitted from the golden highway I suggested earlier might be there.

That said, he rode Stowell like a total numpty.

Well to a certain extent. If he thinks he’s got a chance, he will try! If not he won’t bother.
