The 2014 World Hurdle

Sam TD has the Big Bucks ride for the Cleeve and World Hurdle. Stable no.1 must be mighty pissed off with that!

Yes I should have thought that might spell a change for 2014-2015. Ruby I imagine Daryl could have rationalised but not a younger rival .

surprsing news

Jacob is a good jockey
not as good as Ruby but good enough to ride for a big stable

however it is not so bad for him, to lose the ride of an old horse after a big injury.....

this is a pointer of Annie Power running in the World Hurdle

Suny might have hit the nail on the head here -this is an old horse coming back from injury-there has to be a doubt he makes it to the festival. After the ride DJ gave Celestial Halo to win at Newbury I doubt they would want to insult him-maybe despite all the media noise they aren't sure he will make it to the festival.

If that was the case and Nicholls had any confidence in Jacob they would have let people know.

Heard this in December:

Interesting chat about jockeys yesterday. Nick Scholfield insistd that he is not considered, nor referred to in the media, as 'second jockey to Paul Nicholls' because "I'm better than Daryl Jacob". I mentioned that there had bits in the press about Sam Twiston-Davies being eyed as the stable jockey. The reply was adamant: "If he was the stable jockey all the lads would walk out".

I wouldn't be too bothered if I was him. More a reflection on Stewart being a clueless old duffer than his relationship with Nicholls.

If that was the case and Nicholls had any confidence in Jacob they would have let people know.

Nicholls and Stewart have two other possible contenders for the Stayers Hurdle.I don't sense any rift between Nicholls and Jacob unlike the situations with Joe Tizzard and Sam Thomas.

me either but ultimately it's his operation so up to him.

tony calvin getting a bit testy on twitter after reading similar accusations

The account given by Nicholls is extraordinary. It seems to suggest a serious lack of self-confidence from Jacob.

Yep, quite an eye opener. Would imagine a new stable jock next season wouldn't be the biggest shock ever

I don't think so-the stable is exceeding expectations at this stage of the season and while the arrangement with STD is working well Nicholls will always need a supersub and I sense Sam might be reluctant to leave Nigel.

It could be argued that if something happened to The New One or he was well beaten in the CH, he wouldn't have a lot to stay for.
