The 2015 Punchestown Festival

no ..Vautour..immense sectional at Cheltenham

UDS is good obviously..but Vautour looks even better..better than Don too

exciting times ahead i feel

thanks.

he is very exciting indeed.

does anyone have doubts over whether he stays or not?

we could be on the cusp of a golden age in staying chasers

Think 3 miles will be fine for him, though the Gold Cup trip will be a different kettle of fish. On soft ground I would certainly be against him.

He would hose up in the Ryanair.

The going is now good to yielding, good in places (hurdle and chase) and good to firm, good in places (X Country), forecast dry & warm today, unsettled from Thursday night with 15 to 20mm rain expected over the weekend.

Mullins is the Third placed trainer in the UK championship also

Not quite - Cheltenian's win of the Scottish Champion Hurdle last Saturday took Philip Hobbs past Willie Mullins into third place. A couple of wins and places over the last few days exrended this lead to just under 50.000.

As Hobbs is still firing with quite a number of horses over the next few days it's quite unlikely that the 4 horses Mullins currently left over for Sandown can change anything to this order.

Good season for Hobbs anyway - started off at giant odds to become this year's Champion NH trainer in the UK and ended up in respectable third place.

Nicholls miles ahead of a Hendo with Hobbs, Mullins and Pipe a couple of 100.000 behind Hendo - the likes of O'Neill, TwD and McCain nowhere near.

I'd be against him in a Gold Cup. He's a very exuberant jumper who might struggle to get home. If he takes the King George (a formality unless it's really soft) he will be v/short come March.

Excitng thoughts all the same. I loved Conrygrees performance in the GC so much. Next years race will all be new generation horses.

I think UDS was a better hurdler and will prove also a better chaser than Vatour.

Personally think Vautour will be the better chaser but doubt they'll ever meet

I don't mind running one but the scores for Wednesday won't be up until Thursday morning as I will be at Cheltenham's hunter chase meeting Wednesday evening.

Do we want a points competition like we had for Aintree or a profit loss competition, 1 point win on all races with 2 points on your nap ?

How many are interested to make it worthwhile ?

I'll do a League Of Neightions comp later in the year on Royal Ascot or more likely Goodwood / Galway.

One suggestion, DG.

Instead of asking people for a selection in every race, ask them to pick a winner in three races of their choice. One will be a Will Win, one their Nap and the other their Pricewise Each Way. The Will Win is for 4 pts win only, the Nap for 2 pts win only, and the Each Way for 1pt each way.

That way people can narrow down the number of races they have to analyse in detail.

P.S. I don't mind running a competition myself, Roger, or to give you a hand with running one

I'm up for it whatever the format.

May see you there at the HC meeting depending on work commitments Roger. I suspect there will be few others going too.

Vautour and Don Poli could be the next Kauto/Denman.... Same stables, one a flashy jumper with bags of class and pace, the other a stayer of immense stamina and power.

Great thread so why no kunt is contributing is beyond me. Want the forum to die juust look and don't post/...........c'mom guys lets be having u

Actually can you run one Art, something has cropped up which would make it difficult for me to keep up with it.

How much interest do u get in the bank?

Douvan no matter what the price have your balls on.

WPM told u he's the best ever to cross the water...............believe him ...odds on or not I am having my entire bank on him on the day

Are the decs for handicaps made 24 or 48 hours before chaps?

I've spotted one I think is a few pound well-in.
The Killasshee Hurdle on Tuesday is the first entry of the meeting for Frontline but he needs plenty to come out.

All of the handicaps are 24 hours Marble. I wouldn't be surprised if 16 came out to give him a run. He's also entered in the first race on Thursday; I haven't spoken to Peter about him but the horses are in good form and he would be very interesting in the 0-150

In case anyone is interested these are the 48 hour declaration races:

Tuesday 28th April
Herald Champion Novice H'dle
BoyleSports Champion S'chase
Growise Novice S'chase

Wednesday 29th April
Irish Daily Mirror Novice H'dle
Bibby Financial Services Ireland Punchestown Gold Cup
Attheraces.com Champion Bumper

Thursday 30th April
Ladbrokes World Series H'dle
Ryanair Novice S'chase

Friday 1st May
Queally Group Punchestown Champion H'dle
Tattersalls Ireland Champion Novice H'dle

Saturday 2nd May
Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Champion H'dle
AES Champion 4-Y-O H'dle

Cheers. If Wicklow Brave takes up his other entry later in the week Frontline would get in the handicap- proper on Tuesday with 10 stone.

That would be ideal - I suspect Peter would be reluctant to run him from out of the handicap but, if that were the option, it might depend on whether David Mullins was available. He would certainly like the (likely) better ground.
