The 2016 Punchestown Festival

would say that's 100pc the case tanlic

mullins fined 1k and rightly so

that said a boost for punchestown which needs it this year

Chasing next year...........what targets?

Hmm Owners!!!!!! and their dreams.

Talk of the Gold Cup is bordering on stupidity.

The 3 mile hurdling division is poor.

He's been beating horses like Reve De Sivola rated no more than 140 over fences and Shanehill rated around the low 150's That's the class he's running in and looking good in

And they want to go chasing and take on 180+ rated horses.......they got **** for brains IMO

Reve's rating over fences is irrelevant. Ptit Zig is a late 150s horse and Thistlecrack beat him 12 lengths. Ultimately the horse is a mid 170s hurdler with the scope to be a chaser. The owner will never have a horse as good so why not go for the main prize, and I wouldn't bet against his trainer who is one of the best in the business. And if he doesn't jump that well they can always go back to hurdling.

Says he's sorry for punters but they'll get their money back as she was declared. Not ante-post punters.

A 1k fine will be small change for Ricci

Shabby from Mullins - regardless of why she was declared I agree he should have warned punters in advance of the possibility she would not run .

agree with that. not sure how it would have been received though if they had said it beforehand. could have encouraged bookies to fiddle about with the market...or maybe not

given the huge difference in prize money and mullins' regard for punchestown, its a completely logical decision in terms of best interests of horse but could have been handled better. still he has given sandown/kempton regulars some unexpected treats by targeting uk so hopefully all is forgiven eventually

To be fair probably wasn't his decision. Rich Ricci says wasn't me:lol: Mrs Ricci (The boss lol) gave him permission to run but if it comes to the stage where you can't win the title we pull her out.

That is very kind of her to support the trainer like that...........race yesterday worth 28K Punch race 91K ........business is business and if anyone on here wants to throw away 60k plus toss it over here

Can't argue with that from a business point of view but I think they should have said beforehand that's what they would do if the championship was not a possibility by then. All this "we had a quick discussion after the race and did the sums and decided to withdraw her" is flannel.

Of course they could argue punters should have anticipated that.

And Vautour going for the Champion Chase. Gold Cup turned upside down in the space of an hour or so.

:(

Bad news for any ante post bets on the 2 miler...

Oh man Thistlecrack now Don Cossack that is a bastid.

Vautour should take on Cue Card and Nicky can send Sprinter over for a canter round in the CC.

Has anyone said anything for definite where Vautour runs now?

I am joking about SS but wonder is Simonsig could benefit from following Special Tiara round at speed?

Vautour at 2/5 seems very short considering the trip but you'd have to think he's a stone better horse than UDS.

Simonsig at his very best would have been Vautour equal but because of his continuous habit of trying too pull jockey's arms out of sockets
Vautour need not worry about beating him he'll do that by himself.

Looks like the best bets of the meeting is the old short priced trebles again... amazingly you can have 6/4 about Annie Power Vautour and Yorkhill winning
and 9/4 Annie Power Vautour and Apples Jade winning. Add to that the 4 timer Annie Power Vautour Yorkhill and Apples Jade at over 7/2 and you're in the money.......easy game:cool:

Out of the Gold Cup? Or Out cold sleeping ;0) No indication of that on oddschecker......probably because betting has been suspended for tues ap betting the rumours are flying about

No chance of him going for the Gold Cup Clive bc both that and the Champion Chase are worth the same money. He'd have to be mentally challenged to do that

Willie Mullins says there is a "very good chance" Vautour will run in the Bibby Financial Services Gold Cup at Punchestown.

Willie wouldn't put punters away would he ?
