The NH Season 2013 /2014.........proper

Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Bobs Worth is likely to go head to head with stablemate Long Run on his return at Haydock next month.

The Nicky Henderson-trained eight-year-old is set fair to make his seasonal debut in the Betfair Chase on November 23, which is also the intended first port of call for Long Run.

Should all go to plan, Bobs Worth will then surface in the Argento Chase at Cheltenham in January, after which he will attempt to retain his Gold Cup crown next March.

Part-owner Malcolm Kimmins said: "He's summered really, really well, and Nicky said he's even grown a little bit, which is very exciting.

"We are looking at Haydock as being his first major target, then on to the Argento, then back for the Gold Cup."

"He's summered really, really well"

Love this....i've yet to hear a trainer say otherwise about any horse!

16-1 now but still looks a bet I think, will be much shorter on the day.
Would see what else comes out over the coming months - Slippers Percy beat Backstage in an Open last weekend and he's available at 16's I think, reportedly targeting Cheltenham/Aintree.

Very true. But is saying an adult horse has "even grown a bit" not code for "they've let him get fat as a hippo"?

Countrywide Flame is out for the season

Countrywide Flame is set to make his seasonal reappearance by defending his crown in the stanjames.com Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. After being narrowly denied in a thrilling Cesarewitch at Newmarket 12 months ago, John Quinn's admirable dual-purpose runner made a scintillating return to jumping action in the feature event of Newcastle's National Hunt season. He went on to finish an excellent third behind Hurricane Fly and Rock On Ruby in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and was last seen finishing fifth back on the Flat in the Chester Cup. Having been forced to miss another tilt at this weekend's two-and-a-quarter-mile event, Countrywide Flame will now head straight to Gosforth Park on November 30. "We were going to run in the Cesarewitch but he got a knock unfortunately. There's always next year," said Quinn. "It wasn't anything serious, it was just a knock, so we'll look towards the Fighting Fifth for him." There has been talk in some quarters that Countrywide Flame could step up in trip for a potential tilt at the World Hurdle over three miles, but Quinn is keen to stay at the minimum distance for the foreseeable future. "We'll be sticking at two miles for now anyway. He was third in a Champion Hurdle and it was a good Champion Hurdle, so I don't see any point in changing things too much with him," said the trainer. .

He has a fracture according to his owner.

UK NH starts today for me with a decent Chepstow card

Highlight would have been Ace High who's a NR now, so am looking forward to seeing For Two in the limited handicap and Oscarteea/Hello George in the bumper, looking to boost the Regal Diamond form

Un Atout prob out for the season according to Mullins. He says the Fly has come back as big as an elephant and Stronger than ever.

BIG BUCK'S and Al Ferof are back in training after long layoffs and are making progress towards their competitive returns, Paul Nicholls said on Thursday.
A leg injury ruled out four-time World Hurdle winner Big Buck's for much of last season, but Nicholls said the ten-year-old, who is unbeaten since 2008, was advancing towards a January return.
"He cantered on Tuesday for the first time since last November," said Nicholls. "He looks wonderful. I'm very happy with him."
Al Ferof, who suffered a similar injury, is on course for a run in the William Hill King George VI Chase but will likely reach the track before then, Nicholls said.
"He's been cantering quite a while," the trainer added. "I'm very, very happy with him. I suspect we'll find him one race before the King George and that might be at Ascot. There's nothing set in stone but that's where we're aiming."
Speaking on RUK, Nicholls also said Silviniaco Conti would likely head straight for Haydock's Betfair Chase on November 23. The seven-year-old won the Grade 1 contest from Long Run last year.

That Renetti of Mullins looks a good one...super jumping for first time over the sticks. Could be one for the Albert Bartlett.

Long Run well forward and did good work on grass Sat. Contemplating running first at Wetherby in Charlie Hall before going to Haydock.

Long Run, The Giant Bolster, Unioniste, Harry Topper, one of either Dynaste or Grand Crus and possibly Tidal Bay. Has the makings of a decent Charlie Hall.

This meeting at Wetherby on Saturday week is shaping up nicely, At Fishers Cross likely to run in the bet365 Hurdle on that day.

Gutted for Brian Hamilton who's a very good trainer and does well with what he gets - deserves a better quality of horse IMHO.
