The Road To The 2021 Cheltenham Gold Cup

Didn't Nicholls say something on the Morning Show the other week that CDO would not go for the GC?

He said immediately after the last GC they’ll never run CDO at Cheltenham again so at lest some consistency

Betfair Chase entries:

Clan Des Obeaux
Topofthegame (presumably an NR)
Lostintranslation
Bristol De Mai
Santini
A Plus Tard

Saint Calvados :ninja:

Bellshill
Keeper Hill
Lord Du Mesnil

Saint Calvados backers, he’s entered in the Betfair Chase, but Harry said he’s also entered in the 2m4f race at Ascot the same day. He’ll run 3 mile plus this season but when he’ll leave it up to the owners.

I’d wager he’ll be off to Ascot then somewhere over 3m round Christmas time by the way his trainer was talking.

Thanks DJ. You may well be right. My guess is it'll depend on ground conditions. They won't run at Haydock if it's deep ground.

Cheers, DoubleJ.

Whittington needs to assert, get his finger out, and get the horse over 3m at Haydock. There's no point going to Kempton still wondering if he will get the trip, and he and the owners have about 4 other horses they could aim at the Ryanair in March.....the twat (unless he does run him at Haydock, in which case he is a very wise man indeed).

Topofthegame out for the season, says Racing Post.

On other thread as well. Apologies

He’s going cuppin’ that I think is nailed on. The way he said we think he gets three miles + with a glint told me so. I watched his race back last night in the Ryanair, some performance. Min is no fool, and to get that close staying on for me says wonderful things.

Only down side is Whittington kept referring to this 2m4f race at Ascot and said he’ll be leaving it up to the owners, but he WILL be going 3m+ at some point this season.

Yeah.....but I have a right good ante-post rattle at the Betfair Chase, hence my alarm!

If he goes he’s not a 20/1 shot which is what’s widely available. Suspect he’ll half in price if declared. Surely be trained to the max as well to see if he does indeed stay the trip.

Cracking race at Thurles on Thursday featuring Kemboy, Monalee and Percy over 2m6. I have Monalee as the best of these comfortably but he needed the run fto last year so whilst tempting I find myself holding off at the 9/4 quoted at Hills and Powers.

It screams no bet unless Archie tells us Kemboy is 100% first time?

I still think despite what Gordon says, he'll be trying to get a few pounds of Percy for April, and as you say Monalee usually needs his first race. That said we'd have said the same about Minella Indo!

3/4 fit, he should beat Percy over this trip

I’m topping up on Minella Indo.

100% gets trimmed after he bolts up tomorrow. Not sure what beats him. 2 horse race between Al Boum and Minella. Nobody even mention the hound Santini please. Cyrname possibly but I’m not convinced.

The fact Percy is 16/1 shows how poor a race it is. 10/1 each way, even this far out, is surely a must bet.

Have backed Minella Indo for the Gold Cup tonight. The other bets I have in the race are highly-speculative arrows at Saint Calvados......though I confess I’m feeling a little better about his King George chances after today’s events (obviously has to get to Kempton first).
