'The winner will know they've had a race'

Seems to me Gordon is telling us 4/6 favourite Gerri Colombe is going to lose:lol:.

Editor must have had an afternoon off to let that one slip by.

Seriously the standards of reporting on the RP are crap.

Jack Kennedy doesn't make many mistakes and will probably kick on someway from home to avoid getting into a speed trial with Envoi Allen.

Can't see either of the other two being involved.

Lack of interest in what looked like a fascinating race amazes me.

You will go a long way to see a better 4 horse race than that was today.

Of the 3 involved in the finish Gerri Colombe looked the first beaten and was actually matched at 90 on the machine and Envoi Allan looked all over the winner.
i
Jack Kennedy wasn't for giving up and the horse ran on game as a pebble and somehow pulled it out the bag.

May just have seen the gold Cup winner.

He should improve massively from today's race.I think there will be a few strong stayers in next year's Gold Cup -could see Gordon finding a pacemaker.

When Gentemansgame won the Charlie Hall the owners said they’d told Mouse to run him over here because Gerri Collombe was going to win the Gold cup. ( or at least it was something like that they said…)

Seriously WTF is going on with the big handicap chases in Ireland.

The Troytown on Sunday currently has 24 entries, 17 of which are trained by Elliott.

I don’t know what the answer is but in what universe can that be good for the game.

They maybe don't qualify as 'top' Irish races, but I confess I am a bit surprised that Willie Mullins doesn't have a runner in either of the Grade 3 'For Auction' and 'Monksfield' novice hurdles at Navan over the weekend.

WPM seems to take the Punchestown Grade 1 meetings, now combined into a single weekend, as the start of the NH season proper. Only a few outliers get sent to the track before then.

Clossuton was hit particualry bad by the heavey rain and a large number of horses were removed for a few weeks, the gallops were in an awful state.

Facile Vega off to a good start over fences.

I thought the 2nd was given a very gentle time of it from Rachael Blackmore!

Scratching my head over the ride he got -not sure if he was difficult to steer or if the trip didn't suit. Will be interesting to hear what Henry has to say.

Not sure Luke, I thought he looked as though he was going very well and I didn't think there was a question around the trip, was just a fairly soft ride from my POV, odd one to work out!

No denying Fastorslow has taken the scalp of Gallopin Des Champs again fair and square.

Hopefully Martin Brassil will avoid another rematch until March which will make for a very interesting Gold Cup.

No doubt Gallopin Des Champs will improve but what's to say Fastorslow who keeps doing it won't either

Say a prayer for the Gold Cup form. The first three home have run a combined eight times since, and have yet to win a race between them.

I do think things are getting somewhat ludicrous - a six horse races and five of them from one stable. Can’t be heathy. Agree with grassy - the GC looks as though it took a lot out of them.

Agreed so how great to see the prize go to the only runner from a different stable.

Gold cup is there for the taking for Gerri Colombe imo

He's ceratinly tough enough but much will depend on the going. Anything approaching good and if speed comes into it he could come up short.

Must say I am very surprised Fastorslow is as low as 5/1 when you consider the proximity of Appreciate It.

You would have to think Gallopin Des Champs who looked ring rusty will easily turn the form around.
Which is reflected in his price.

Fastorslow worth his place of course, but on the other hand was 110% fit I reckon so he won't improve much for the run.

A friend of mine asked Henry what the aim would be for the festival -the reply was whatever race looks the most winnable.
