TV coverage

Priceless when Francesca said on Saturday that it was nice the Irish horses had “clovers” on their rumps. Mick Fitz could hardly contain himself

Has faults and some weak links (Gleeson/Hannon) but the Walsh Russell combo on TV is as good as it gets. Streets ahead.

What is noticeable is in the reruns of the race, they go through the minor thoughts that go though top jockeys minds and are able to articulate it in a way you hoped ex jockeys in the past would have done. The Chacun/Allaho rerun was an education. Got a little dig in at David Bass for no real reason for letting Allaho through - First Flow was legless at the time - but they really add a huge amount to the coverage. It hasnt taken Ruby long to zoom past the rest in this area. I dont mind Jane. I think she comes across as a little pleased with herself every so often, but its a tiny and unfair quibble. She is a good broadcaster.

Russell looks like he is still in pain, holding himself very awkwardly. If Envoi Allen doesnt come back to himself or if he no longer has the ride, I'd wonder if he will come back.

Today's TV racing pretty much passed me by but barely had I tuned in than Luke Harvey had uttered two of the stupidest comments I've ever heard, and within the space of about 10 seconds.

First, he's never known a tougher horse than Poetic Flare. Seriously? Tough though the horse is, he's got some way to go (imo) to prove tougher than quite a few horses, notably Galileo.

Second, [Poetic Flare] is "literally made of stone". Seriously? I mean, really, seriously?? How do people like this get to hold a microphone on a TV programme?

Stealing a living

Harvey regularly says things like "there is no better jockey riding at the moment" then you look at the Racing Post and the said rider is on a losing run of about 30!

Reminiscent of Jimmy Lindley on the BBC a generation ago. Every jockey and/or trainer was in "no better form", etc.

Coverage from Musselburgh yesterday was terrible. I'm guessing they had technical issues, because prior to one of the sprints the footage as the horses were at the start was from the main stand. I did skip a bit but was there any footage from the parade ring?

Not that I remember but was only half watching. Lots of Ollie and gang standing outside something talking amongst selves and then odd bod/jockey popping in before and after. No Chapman at finish embarrassing jockeys but saying unnecessary things such as ' getting married shortly' ....
Try watching with sub titles on: I have to most of the time as struggle with hearing and when reading it, really does show how much rubbish/inane statements are spouted.

Ed Chamberlain is an absolute knob. Constantly interrupting interviews with inconsequential Sh1te...." she's got her hat, she's got her hat back"...Moron

That and the interminable fawning over Emma Banks.

I mean, who the fvck is Emma Banks anyway? Does he get free tickets for a gig every time he mentions her name?

I'm not one for the fashion items but I'm not seeing enough of Charlotte Hawkins (in any sense) :o:<3:
