Unexposed races to follow

Sandown 2.00 Class 4 maiden 2 miles

Likely contenders obvious here. We'll see if anything else can show a hand.

11 ran in the end. Proper heavy ground.

Uncle Bert ran above market expectations to finish 2nd for NTD. Perhaps an interesting note here is a Mel Rowley association, appears MR may have originally sourced Uncle Bert, and it appears she did with Ahoy Senor, too.

Coupled with this, evidence from her own runners in bumpers and some of the hurdlers suggest Mel and team certainly know what they're doing with the youngsters. The question mark I've got from this is 'does she sell on all the likely strongest types and keep the 'lesser' prospects in stable?' To be monitored...but it would seem to be sensible to pay any bumper runners some particularly close attention.

Aside from this, nothing to note. Less than half the races were run before abandonment due to ground deteriorating, so comparative time analysis pretty pointless

Soft to heavy ground, but this race looked to be the fastest comparative of the day.

The winner Rath Gaul Hill won hard held, but most notable run came from Kim Bailey's Galante De Romay. Lobbed around in 6th most of the way. Looked like she might fold after 3 out, but after one crack picked up again, and a gentle tap kept her mind on it going to the last. Finished best of all bar the winner to grab 3rd on the line.

KB's pre-race " Galante de Romay.. This big mare is all about chasing this season and needs to get a handicap mark to do so. She needs to complete and go chasing.. one for the future."

That would mark this out as a careful run with eyes on other prizes in future. One to watch with the hope she doesn't show too much more of a hand for a while.

This won't work unless I can solve the images issue. And 2-3 hours lost so far playing around with that. Unproductive time is a massive issue for me, and copy/pasting/writing them out will become untenable (already way behind on other responsibilities/projects).

May have to find an alternative solution.

Ben Pauling
"I'm not sure that Twig should be at quite such short odds, but he did go very well when second on hurdles debut at Cheltenham last month and this certainly looks less demanding. A nice sort, a safe run round is the priority today."

Fergal O'Brien
"Former pointer Ajp Kingdom made a winning start for us, making all in a bumper at Bangor. He is interesting on this hurdle debut and while Twig looks easily the pick on form, Ajp can follow him home to complete the forecast."

That’s great, chaumi. Cracked it

PS: and since you’ve put the image up I was quite impressed with Attacca today. Was never going to be given hard time on a run more for education and he shrugged off a previous winner quite easily, although was in receipt of seven pounds. Not under the radar, but looks promising

Time stacked up well enough against times recorded by older/experienced runners in later races. There was a lot to like about how the front two battled to pull well clear on the run-in. Attaca ("still a raw baby") would look to have n amount of potential, agreed.

Nothing to note in the other Kempton novice won by Twig.

I spun through this thread not logged-in and there was just an attachment link for the images above. Logged in and hey presto the images were back. Interesting.

Yeah, same here. Appears only a logged-in user can see in-post images, though clicking on the attachment link will bring them up in a new window.

Ok I can fix that. Added to my list :)

I'm particularly interested in the Sam Drinkwater and Toby Lawes runners with an eye to the future.

Yes, there’s market interest in Lawes’ Mister Who, although Jubilee Express looks solid as favourite. In the other one the market wants nothing but Parramount atm and Charlie Longsdon seems ultra bullish.

Parramount was a class and a half above everything else and dominated. Looks useful.
Mister Who made a horlicks of the last when he buckled on landing, but recovered to finish strongly and hold off Jubilee Express by a neck with the best of the rest nearly 5 lengths adrift.

Time for Mr Who's race looked good enough in comparison to the other hurdles on the day, suggesting it might be reliable enough form. Certainly, Mr Who battled on well after his last flight blunder.

No Tackle made some promising progress between 3 out and 2 out, seemingly tanking for a bit. Faded from there, but maybe that effort just took its toll in the ground. Finished far enough back that odds in the next two or three runs may be suitable.

Nothing else noticed worth mentioning there.

*******

Parramount Yep, nice win and , again, in a good enough comparative time.

There were a good half a dozen others running that seemed pre-race as if they might be interesting, but most showed nothing at all and couldn't even make a dent aside from Daly's Duke of Moravia, who may just about be attractive enough odds in a two-and-a-half handicap in the near future to have a small bet.

Imperial Alex wasn't on my pre-race list, but the RP noted "Held up in rear, headway on outer into midfield 5th, shaken up 3 out, kept on from 2 out, eyecatcher"

It would seem virtually certain that some in the back half of the field will improve vastly on their performances here in time. They'll need to.

Had another look at the race and Imperial Alex and can’t say I saw much to get excited about. I thought he jumped neatly, always looked comfortable, asked for something way out he responded quite well and from there was kept up to his work without being put under any pressure. A decent educational run, but nothing more that I could see. I’ll stick him in the book to watch next time, though.

Agreed, just watched and didn't see anything spectacularly out of the ordinary either.

2.55 Ayr Novices' Limited Handicap Chase Class 4

Although only 7 runners, this could turn out to be competitive.

The initial interesting one is Stolen Money. This trip should be way too sharp, and the hope would be he jumps fences well but ends up 20l+ down at the end. Then we get to fill boots in a subsequent heavy ground 3-miler.

This could be fun. Quite a valuable prize for a novice, it's likely most are there to run their races. Maybe even Fortescue isn't even just there for a warm-up.
