What are you backing Today? Part 2

I can't agree, viking.

It's possible she was in a mood and he couldn't do much about it but I was muttering at the telly before halfway bemoaning the ride she was getting.

To be honest, I was expecting her to do to this field what IEF did to his at Kempton.

Sean O’Keeffe has had better days than when he rode Conyer Hill at Fairhouse.

He had the hold up horse stone last of 19 at the 2nd last before staring his move.

He cut through them with no real efort from the saddle like a knife though butter
and it wasn't until they jumped the last he really got after him but had left it far to late.

Little doubt if he had asked the horse for a lot earlier he would have won easily.

Conyers Hill 5/1 ew looks like a bet to nothing Lepardstown 2.20

THE BIG BREAKAWAY 250C 20/1 6 places.

2nd last year off a pound higher.been disappointing but maybe that was the plan.blinkers back on and it's the last year its run in memory of Joe Tizzard's sister.

Great day for the Moore’s. Had such a tough time recently, nice to see things working out so well for them.
E du G has long been my cliff horse but delighted for Nassalam too.

Leo, Christmas Hdle - Buddy One 14/1 - imo overpriced because of its defeat last time but I'm happy to excuse that on the bases that it came too soon after Cheltenham and was over a shorter trip against much better horses (and better than he faces today).

I’m with you on this one for exactly the same reasons

That went well. Horse stopped very quickly [emoji17]

I have backed a couple today, one win and the latter each way.

Newbury

1.15
Martator ran well in second last time, and he could even improve again, so all in all, I'm glad I took a better price than what he is now on Thursday after final declarations.

2.25
Docpickedme I like each way. He is a new recruit for the Richard Hobson yard, and ran well first time out, before a poor run at Haydock last time. That run at Haydock was in class two company though, which may have been a tough ask for Docpickedme. Now back down to class three level and I think he's a player off a mark of 129 with the man of the moment Gavin Sheehan riding. While Docpickedme has form on different types of ground, his very best form, including over hurdles, has been on better ground. So I am hoping it stays good to soft at Newbury, and as Docpickedme likes to be up on the pace, I'm hopeful I'll get a good run for my money.

Took 3/1 Captain Teague - this has always been his target, and he wasn't given a hard race lto - probably with ths in mind.

That was a lovely round of jumping from Issar D'Airy! Lovely ride from Niall Houlihan, thought it was a bit of a white-knuckle ride from Charlie Deutsch on the fave, was absolutely tanking along. Taking performance from the winner on his first start over fences.

I thought the best horse won, Gaz. No complaints from me and I was on Martator.

King Of The Lake in that last race summed up the day for me.

Flying home at the finish, with Rex Dingle happy to sit half a dozen lengths off the leaders for the most of the way, as if he was on Baracouda.

Reminded me of Thierry Doumen, he really did, but not even Thierry sat that far back!

King of the Lake owned by friends of mine. I thought he’d be suited by step in in trip but horse did not enjoy the tight track that Taunton is. He was always racing a bit behind the bridle so despite staying on, I wouldn’t blame the jockey, rather opt for a more galloping track next time.

Update on this, Marb.

Spoke to one of owners today and they think he has a breathing issue (they’re all horsey so able to comment first hand). They suggested a tongue tie to daughter of trainer who didn’t agree......

Thanks for that, Jin. You are a good'un.

He still only five, plenty time for him to develop.

Maybe he'll make more of a chaser in time, I don't know.

Pure pocket talk from me yesterday, of course.

Whenever Marb brings about a Baracouda comparison you know he's either relapsing, lost too much money, or had too much to drink. :)

Happy New Year all

I have always said it's easier for a good horse to give lumps of weight away to slow horses than beating an equal by a long way.

The only problem Stage Star has is Richmond Lake may be a lot of things but slow it seems is not one of them.

Fair play to PN for having a go and avoiding the real big guns at this time but Stage Star may have bitten off more than he can chew.

Richmond Lake 9/2
