What are you backing Today? Part 2

Yes. I had planned to put ROTS on the longshot thread at 20/1 but the price is gone this morning. Last night I wrote elsewhere:

Cyrname was well beaten in this last year at 4/11 when falling, the race won by Riders Onthe Storm at just 7/2. The latter had just closed down the leaders in the Ryanair despite not jumping fluently when buckling on landing three out and is now 20/1 following a couple of laboured efforts this season. He’s still in the Ryanair but off 155 he could be well-handicapped should they choose to go down that route, although I don’t imagine he would like being in a big field. Nicholls and Cobden have been talking up Master Tommytucker this week so maybe they’ve been trying to prepare punters for an upset. I’m going to settle for a small each-way bet on Riders Onthe Storm and hope for a going day.

The betting market is interesting today.

According to oddschecker there's actually good money for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th favourites.

I would view this as a big positive, (if like me and DO,) you've backed either Benny's King, Dashel Drasher or Riders On The Storm.

The fact they're all shortening would tend to make me think at least one of them could go very close.

Given how they are finishing at Wincanton, today has to be Goshen's day. Hard to forget his last runs but if he doesnt pull his chance away and in anything like last years form, he keeps going in this ground for longer than anything else. 11/4 is too big.

Agreed. I haven't backed him but I envisage Goshen and Navajo will have a nice spin round and hopefully pull clear of Song For Someone.

Boom!

NH's is nothing special in the first so I am backing Good Ball (PN) by default and if it wins I will have the winnings on Skelton's in The Betfair Hurdle....

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but have actually backed super-woofer Sceau Royal in the Game Spirit.

I'm hoping for a promising run from Cepage today for the sake of my 40/1 bet in the Ryanair. Should be longer than 7/1 for today, though.

A win for Champ today will not surprise me in the least but I can't bring myself to back him. A very promising run, though, even if he doesn't win, might see his GC odds shorten so that's something I might have a wee think about.

For today's race I've gone with Dolos at 7/1. On my figures only Champ is better than him at the weights but there's no market without the latter.

Presumably based on form on Good ground in France, the fact it’s been over-bet in every race it’s run in the UK, and because it’s in against super-woofers and stayers.

The lack of confidence in Greanateen is surprising. Certainly has the winning of this on his best form.

Fifty Ball in the Schweppes.

A race that's been kind to us in the past - we've won it three times and one more win would the record of 4 wins of Ryan Price in the 60's, but it's a race the Henderson and Twiston-Davies yards have done well in over the years too. Anyway, we've been delighted with Fifty Ball since he came over from France - winning his last two and is improving all the time. Hiked up 11lbs for the last win and goes without saying a much tougher race, but we still get in here with a light weight (10-5lbs) due to the rise in grade. My three previous winners all were 10-9 or less and unless you've got a Champion Hurdle horse in this race, then I feel this sort of weight is best for this race. The horse is well too and been freshened up with a few months off - should go well, with a live E/W chance, while any further rain would help his chance. Trainer

I have to say, Clan Des Obeaux looked to me to be keeping something to himself there. It looked like he didn't really ant to go past Secret Investor who, yet again, showed what a good jockey Frost is.

I'm not at all disappointed with Cepage's run. He was keeping on after the last and hopefully is still on course for a tilt at the Shitebagair.

Fingers crossed that The Conditional is okay.

Does Cepage always sweat up so badly? I was quite concerned seeing him awash with sweat during the race.

One of the TV guys said it's normal for him to get warm but I've never seen him as lathered as that. Still ran promisingly enough for me.

Ended up taking Champ for the Gold Cup so very pleased with that run.

Good shout with Sceau Royal, GH. The brother was on him too but I could fancy it myself. You'd have to see he is much more consistent this season. Well done again.

Gimcrack 2nd Lord Of The Lodge 6.15W has his first h'cap run tomorrow ,and should prove too classy for this field.

Good bet @15/2 (BF)
It seems stable believe he needs a stifffer test (pedigree says so, too). Tomorrow's stiff 7f - 6.40 Newc - could prove ideal.
11/1 B365
