Backed Amateur at 15/8 once Warthog had been withdrawn on Placebackers recommendation. He had also beaten Captain Woddie before who had won for me. Fortunate enough to win after Jonjoe's horse wandered greenly but a lovely drift out to 4s. Makes a nice little war chest for tomorrow.

The Coral Cup (2:50) is not really a good race to bet on but I've backed Automated at 14/1 e/w. Seems to have a decent chance and will be ridden by the extremely talented young jockey Jack Kennedy, and trained by the top Irish trainer, Gordon Elliott.

Kempton tomorrow 2:40 - Golden Spear.

This fella has definitely got a day in him and I thought he'd be shorter than 5's. If you've got any doubts about his potential go and dig out the video of his last run. I toyed with putting it on the will win thread but i've no inside knowledge so there's always the chance he's being kept for a bigger prize.


Also like Goulanes in the Midlands National.
