What are you watching

He doesn't do anything except eat breakfast. How can that be irritating?

wait till you get further into the series :ninja:

honestly, stick with it, season one was made not knowing if there would be more, and the writers strike affected it too. although its far from poor, its not the best season.

Yes me too re TG - one of the funniest things on tv. I don't care if anyone says it is too staged, it is just funny.
Not sure I can honestly say I will get through series one of BB let alone the rest of it. The only plus if I try is that they will shut up at work about it.

I went through the same thought process you are going through, but Stick with it you won't regret it :)

Exactly. Season 3 and 4 are the two best series of any TV show I've ever, and will ever, see.

Well, I tried watching something and was asked to install a media player. I did this but my computer went a bit funny. It's ok now but was a bit concerned.

I'm really keen on this, now that I cannot receive SKY anymore.
But I don't know where to start; I've never used "torrents" before.
So a couple of questions if I may ............
Which Torrent is advisable. ( do I need to download some client etc).
Then, which website should I try in which to use the torrent.?

Also, are there reasons why Euro's couchtuner.eu linked site doesn't appeal to some of you folks? -- it seemed to me at first glance to be comprehensive in its listings but still user-friendly and simplified for old goats like me.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

newsgroups are much better than torrents (and not as illegal - as if anyone using them is bothered :) )
Full speed and if you are careful, no misnamed files, no viruses etc.
If you're with virgin you get free newsgroups (30 day retention) if not then you are still only talking a fiver a month
If you want to stay legit, netflix (using a proxy for us content if required...although that tends to cost more than newsgroup access!)

Which Newsgroup provider would you recommend for TV-shows watching? Giganews, Usenet.nl, etc etc?

The whole Newsgroup thing seems terribly complicated ........... SSL encryption, Binary Newsgroups, Text Newsgroups, Hierarchies, et al. (I've tried reading up some stuff about it since your post.

Also, Netflix is a non-runner for me at this stage. I packed in my subscription 2 months ago. No new shows on it, just the same old - same old. They couldn't even carry seasons 4 or 5 of Justified.

Don't bother downloading stuff when you can watch it straight off without having to wait lads. I use http://watchseries.lt/ Simply search for your series and it'll bring up a list of all episodes, click on an episode and there'll be a host of links. The best links are Nowvideo or Novamov and they have the everything on there and it's updated a couple of hours after it airs over in the States. No need to download anything, or install any media players.

That's what I was thinking also, Simon. Maybe I am naive, but why bother with the Torrents/Newsgroups route with all the attendant downloading and fees, when you can simply watch it streamed live on a site like you linked to in your above post..
Also, again, will somebody give a reason why Euro's couchtuner.eu site is not liked by some of you?

well to start i would go for hitnews to see what you think, 3 day unlimited trial - no card details needed
Im busy for about 30 mins but ill see if i can find a decent guide for you, once set up its literally one click to download, then extract and its ready to watch. To give an idea of speed, when I was on virgin 60mb I could download a 45 minute tv program in under 30 seconds.

I just tried 4 lnks on there, instantly got a load of pop ups, and it started, then started buffering :(

At the end of the day it all depends on what you like, i think newsgroups are excellent, download full speed, stick on an sd card, pop it in tv, watch, no buffering or adverts.

Having said that I know people who use torrents and people who use streaming sites, so it probably just depends what you like best :D
