Such a brilliant story, that one. Ricky Tomlinson as DCI Wise; and ‘Panhandle’ played by Geraldine Somerville.

Can you believe this was all over 30 years ago! The 90s have really caught up with us.

I was just going to mention the Robert Carlyle one, too. I can’t remember the storyline ( so long ago) but know I was totally gripped by it.

Just watched a cartoon on BBC iplayer about Wojtek, the bear who was a corporal in the Polish army and ended up living in Edinburgh Zoo. I first became aware of him when I saw a book about him at the Chain Bridge Honey Farm near Berwick ( I managed to buy a copy of the book recently). There are several statues of him all over the world including Duns and Edinburgh.There is also a podcast about him on The Rest is History but it’s currently subscriber only. A bit like Seabiscuit in that, if someone wrote a fictional story about him it would be deemed totally implausible.
