Your Favourite Booze.

It was actually pretty pitiful - can't lay up with me!! I blame it on drinking cider - last time I drank Strongbow I was about 14 & drinking it out of 2l bottles....

My intake is roughly 5 bottles of wine or equivalent per week which I don't think is excessive. I know it is more than the official guidelines but not by much.

I just have stomach problems and the doc reckoned this may be causing it. A guess more than anything but still worth taking seriously.

Five bottles of wine per week sounds like a lot to me! Especially if it isn't shared. We probably get through three although I tend to have a half-dozen good German beers (or Stella) at the weekend. I tend not to have any more than a glass or two of wine midweek as I reckon alcohol-induced sleep isn't proper sleep and I need a good seven hours' kip to cope with the 150 miles per day driving.

Sounds like your New Year's f*cked, though

Couldn't you wait until Jan 2 to go on the wagon?

UK guidelines is 3-4 units per day, or 21-28 per week

A small glass of wine @9% ABV equals one unit. Most wine I drink is stronger than that so guessing now, 4 units is about 1 bottle of wine.

I don't get through that amount EVERY week but I would say 3 in every 4 weeks I do.

Maybe it is too much, so I will cut down.

Paul, I would guess your stomach problems are more down to the stress you are caused by those little (and not so little) bastards that you are trying to teach. :angy:

Sounds like lazy doctoring to me - if it is bad acid ask for some Zoton and an endoscopy.

Never, in the course of personal history, have I drunk so little at such a festive time of year... I got to Julie's after 5-ish hours and we had a wonderful dinner out with a number of horsey and non-horsey people. However, the nagging dry cough turned very nasty very quickly, and I spent most of the fun time in bed with a sort of gastric flu. Super, smashing. I managed a few drops of a far too dry champers I took, found it disgusting and dumped it. You can imagine how crap I felt as I had about 1/4 glass of Bolly before finding the acid reflux all too much and let that go, too.

Thankfully, Julie's oven went on the blink on Christmas Day, so that lunch (which seemed daunting at midday) was delayed until evening, when I laid waste to a respectable amount of the lovely food, with a well-chilled glass of... water.

I've been on water or tea since. :(

Happy New Year, everyone - I can't wait to pop the top on a celebratory Evian!

Poor love - what a shame .

I am struggling though with a horrible cold too and hope to recover before the weekend.

I even kept poor Jools awake with my non-stop koffing - however, one of her randy cows bellowed with lust from 1.00 a.m. to 5.00 a.m. the night before I left, so all's fair!

I took your gottla wine, Ardross, along with a selection from one's cellar, which is now left at Julie's for the enjoyment of future guests. Get yerself down on the faaaarm soon, me boy, while stocks last! (And not a Blossom Hill in sight.) <_<

Hot toddies for both of us tonight. Though I'm going to see if Pepsi and Wild Turkey work as well!

Is anyone not ill??

I've had to take things easy having felt below par since Thursday and discovered I'd contracted a lung infection when I ended up in the local A&E yesterday morning but I'm glad to say the powerful antibiotics are having the desired effect.

Nobody told me not to take alcohol while on the antibiotics...

It might be lazy doctoring. I will see how these tablets go - Omeprazole.

I sound like a right old fart but I didn't see my usual doc today, I saw a new one. She looked about 10 years younger than me!!! Sob.

Omeprazole?? That's kids' stuff - sweeties! There can't be much wrong with your stomach ;)

Omeprazole is the Beef Or Salmon of stomach treatments. I'm on the Arkle (Esomeprazole 40)!

Mo - they don't always tell you, but partaking in alcohol whilst on antibiotics tends to either stop them from working or reduce their effectiveness. Good luck with the lung infection - thankfully I seem to have avoided that this time after contracting Paul's cold [sorry, I forget, flu... ] which has passed over very quickly with the minimum of fuss & no medication; a first!! I have a habit of leaving coughs for too long so they develop into bronchitis or once, pleurisy - very, very painful!

Hope you feel better soon Aunty K, sounds nasty. Try a hot toddy with your Wild Turkey as a main ingredient & you should feel dandy in no time!

Paul, honey - you arean old fart!!!! :D

Is anyone not ill??

Not ill as such, just pregnant. I'm not one of those women who can stop drinking completely for nine months, however even over Christmas I've barely managed anything at all. Half a glass of wine at my brother-in-laws house on Boxing Day and one measly G&T last night.

Yes, yes I know you have all been worried by my absence but worry not I am still alive, well, I did'nt expect that, Hey, I Look llike a panda bear  two black eyes, who done that ? have to do a google search methinks :o I dont know where I have been, when I was there, wherever it was, who I was with, great

I know I was in the cop shop in shropshire, no, not arrested, not this time, for my own safety they tell me, and all because my brother and myself tried to have a cow race, the one I was supposed to be riding just went round in circles and my brothers tipped him in the river, what do you reckon I need on new years eve ? to put a couple of visors on them or blinkers

Lovely coppers, gave us all a cup of tea, when it was light got a taxi back home, this was last friday night, errrr I think, the cops kept saying to me are you insane ? you could have been trampled to death, got some funny ideas have they not, anyway told them we would be back, why was they not happy, their faces dropped :) however, lovely people.

NO, I am not drunk, well, other than the bottle of Jamesons, the half bottle of vodka, the er pints of Guinness lost count OH, and the half bottle of Bells Scotch if you disregard all this I am totaly sober, disregard what I have drunk thus far today  and it is still very early yet.

Must rush, I am wanted at the karioke at the local or was that someone elses local.

Like a bat out of hell I'll begone when the morning comes.

Must rush to put some mascara on my eyes, well, who cares? anything for a laugh eh.

Be carefull now, dont drink more than myself, that means there is no limit
