First time I've seen it as I was out on Sunday but she looks to idle when she hits the front?

Not sure what Soumillon was thinking riding her so prominently over a trip she definitely stays at a track with a long straight. Surely should have held on to her a bit longer?

Either way, not sure how she's still 16s for the Arc after that! Should be about 40s.

Arnold Lane has a cracking chance of being placed in the Jean Prat Group One today.

He's already got the better of the improving Gabrial who's gone on to win a valuable prize and finish four lengths off Most Improved at Ascot, that one is now rated 108. I reckon this colt has the scope to keep improving and put the nightmare last run behind him. I think he'll put in a career best for the in form Mick Channon team.

I'm not kidding either. Are you sure it's not 28.0? French ratings roughly mirror ours, but are expressed in kilos. so tend to be on the scale (UK Rating x 0.454).

It will be written as 280 over there, the decimal point you have to input yourself but 280 would be around 62 by my reckoning.

It will be interesting to see how Imperial Monarch goes tomorrow, a lot of the Ballydoyle horses haven't impressed me in the last month.

Grass gallops at Ballydoyle flooded since Epsom according to APOB. Hard to impress in those circs.

Nevertheless he won it the hard way making the pace. A convincing enough performance. This colt has a fair measure of quality.

Will surely be better with a lead. He looked green in front and found plenty when challenged to be a convincing enough winner on the line.

He will be better for a lead, but he has exploited his stamina in this, whereas they had been holding him up at insufficient trips previously. A lead in the St Leger wouldn't see him far away, although I'd doubt they would want to muck up Camelot's chances.

La Teste would indeed be far more Sligo than The Curragh quality wise.

Generally there's the top tracks ie. Paris and Deauville followed by a few of the more regional tracks - think Toulouse, Bordeaux, Lyon (two tracks), Clairefontaine and the like, normally the tracks that stage listed and group races.

La Teste itself is far from being a poor track - some decent horses have been down there over the years, indeed the first two starts of Dabirsim's career were made at La Teste in 2011.

The Course G is more a reference to the race grade than the track IIRC though I've yet to work out exactly what it is - you'll often see Course B and Course D on the same card for instance. As a rule I generally use total prize money as the best guide to how good a race is.

Don't forget, "course" is the French word for a race.

La Teste is one of two tracks in the Bordeaux area, the other being Le Bouscat. Both stage the odd Group or Listed race, I think.

Reportedly short of fast work, and this looks no more than a prep for the Marois.
No such problems for Golden Lilac and, on entirely different ground to the Falmouth, ought to win this comfortably.
