Road to the 2025 Champion Hurdle

Constitution Hill runs on Saturday but Lossiemouth predictably taken out, presumably to ruin at the DRF.
Bet365 now quoting 1/9

Inkslinger came over from America to do the Champion Chase/Cathcart double in 1973-phenomenal achievement.
The Ryanair should be called the Cathcart.

Anyway, nice of Anzadam to stay at home so Constitution Hill can have one last hurrah before Anzadam humiliates him in the Champion Hurdle, leaving all "The Hill" groupies forming support groups and holding tearful candle-it vigils outside the gates at Seven Barrows.

I don't mind it being called the Ryanair Cathcart Chase - I just think races should have proper permanent titles and not just a sponsor's brand name.

I don't feel THAT strongly about it, though, and if O'Leary would like to bung me a few quid I'll end my campaign over this tonight. #nooneeveroffendedmebyofferingmemoney

Agree 100%-the start of this nonsense over jumps was when Boylesports were allowed to rename the Bula as the International Hurdle.

I agree with all of you.

But on here we still talk about the Hennessy, Mackeson, Massey-Ferguson, Schweppes and Whitbread. Long may our lum reek in that regard.

I think an elite few races have 'protected' names, though.

Hard to forget some of the winners Like Arkle 1964, Dunkirk 1965 Flyingbolt 1965,Persian War 1968 and Mill House 1967

The winners nowadays wouldnt have been sighted in any of them.......

Keeping a permanent name for races with a sponsor prefix or suffix would make sense, I track trial race form lines and as such I know some of them are all over the place with name changes

Don't like criticizing Nico he's a top class jockey but he stepped of the gas way too much and Constitution Hill was in 1st gear going to the last and how many times have we seen horses blunder when going too slowly....hopefully he won't have done any damage but I expect Nicky had words

I think Nico had words with himself.

I thought I heard him apologising to all and sundry in the winner's enclosure.

It was a schooling session

If anything he should have went on earlier.

PT is probably not too happy to have to choose this early between the two.

Will probably be Patrick who gets the raid but should be Danny.

Anzadam tomorrow at Naas as long as the weather stays good

I thought overall it was a bit of a silly ride. If he was trained by Willie Mullins Paul Townend would have kept it simple and set off in the lead at 3/4 speed and nothing would have got within 20 lengths of him. Too many jockeys with a ton up their sleeve time their run to the last and their mounts blunder or worse...I prefer the Constitution Hill who takes the 2nd last in front then pedal to the metal and comes home without slowing down to a speed where silly mistakes are made like yesterday.

To my mind it seemed fine until he started easing down having skipped 10 lengths clear effortlessly. I wasn’t happy until he took it up though as it seemed an unnecessary risk to follow Brentford Hope for the first mile or so

My take it is that it was the run of a horse not trained to his peak (paddock comments supported that view) and the field were closing on him up the hill and the poor jump was down to his tiring.
It can't be easy for trainers to get the timing right, but he's certain to be fully primed for the big one.
All imo,of course.
