The Ryanair should be called the Cathcart.Inkslinger came over from America to do the Champion Chase/Cathcart double in 1973-phenomenal achievement.
The Ryanair should be called the Cathcart.
Agree 100%-the start of this nonsense over jumps was when Boylesports were allowed to rename the Bula as the International Hurdle.I don't mind it being called the Ryanair Cathcart Chase - I just think races should have proper permanent titles and not just a sponsor's brand name.
I don't feel THAT strongly about it, though, and if O'Leary would like to bung me a few quid I'll end my campaign over this tonight. #nooneeveroffendedmebyofferingmemoney
Hard to forget some of the winners Like Arkle 1964, Dunkirk 1965 Flyingbolt 1965,Persian War 1968 and Mill House 1967I agree with all of you.
But on here we still talk about the Hennessy, Mackeson, Massey-Ferguson, Schweppes and Whitbread. Long may our lum reek in that regard.
I think an elite few races have 'protected' names, though.

Ronaldo takes the ride on Constitution HillWhat happens when Saudi Arabia decided to make it the "Riyadh season Cheltenham Festival"
Don't like criticizing Nico he's a top class jockey but he stepped of the gas way too much and Constitution Hill was in 1st gear going to the last and how many times have we seen horses blunder when going too slowly....hopefully he won't have done any damage but I expect Nicky had words
I thought overall it was a bit of a silly ride. If he was trained by Willie Mullins Paul Townend would have kept it simple and set off in the lead at 3/4 speed and nothing would have got within 20 lengths of him. Too many jockeys with a ton up their sleeve time their run to the last and their mounts blunder or worse...I prefer the Constitution Hill who takes the 2nd last in front then pedal to the metal and comes home without slowing down to a speed where silly mistakes are made like yesterday.I think Nico had words with himself.
I thought I heard him apologising to all and sundry in the winner's enclosure.
