I backed Sir Chauvelin last night. Couldn’t understand why he was such a huge price.

Backed him a couple of weeks ago along with Wise Eagle who didn’t get into the race (ran a blinder at Ayr the other day though). Always have to back Island Brave too.

Looking forward to watching it. There was a very good Mark Lawson interview with Jimmy McGovern on BBC 4 the other night: must be the best interviewer around and a fascinating insight into what makes McGovern such a good writer.

I’ve loved it. I just get so tired of seeing the same trainers and jockeys winning everything so this week has been great. I guess the fact that I only have bets to break even rather than actually winning anything helped.

I was thinking Nathaniel. Backed Khagan in the later handicap because he had soft ground for in France albeit not doing much since he came here.

I don’t know if there’s another Irish trainer with the name Stack (excuse my ignorance) but someone said on racing radio that the Stacks don’t waste time entering horses (assume they mean over here) if they don’t stand a chance. One of those things that has stuck in my mind.
