I don’t know how you can conclude he has regressed other than in his jumping (I agree with jj about the new hurdles) since he hasn’t actually had the chance to show it or not, you can’t do that when you’re on the floor. He had just been loping along and Nico had just brought him off the rail to commence business and ….crash.
 
Well done TFT - the trainer is not quite the wonderful person that is being described on ITV. In fact he's currently lucky to actually have a licence due to his conduct this season.

I agree about this regression stuff both times he's fell he's been travelling well. Tbh thought Nico made a mess of the race and was flapping a bit when they turned for home. I very much doubt he is as good as he was at his peak but still probably good enough to beat anything currently in training given a positive ride and a clear round at 2 miles.

The race looked a bit farcical with them stacking up around that last bend. But take no chances has been beat about the same distance as he was in the Mares. Wodhooh is a rapidly improving 5yo and she's run well. Well enough for me to think she's franked the form enough to give me a bit of confidence about Act of Authority on Saturday.

Another lovely winner and a big priced placer in Inedit Star who got back up into third close home.

It made up for myself only have four places on the 4.40 when my selection finished fifth.
 
From the front view it looked like Wodhooh knocked the hurdle out of alignment as CH was jumping it. Not sure if that made a difference? Wait ‘til the end.

 
I'd say Lossiemouth was travelling marginally the better at the time.

I reckon I'm a step closer to getting paid out on my bets on Constitution Hill to never win another Champion Hurdle.

On a more positive note, I've got rather a large price win only Wellington Arch (2.20) tomorrow and, possibly against my better judgement, I will be giving Kopeck De Mee another chance too.

I might also have something in the 5.15, but I'm not on yet, so keeping schtum about that for now.
 
It was brave and slightly unusual planning from Elliot to put the mare in.

Wonder how they map her season next year.

Off the back of two falls, don't think we'll see ch again this season.

Nico had the horse in a perfect position setting out on the 2nd circuit. He let Lossiemouth get first run on him after 3 out + found himself 2, or 3 lengths behind. Wouldn't have been easy making that up. Poor ride tactically.
I think he'll go to Punchestown + try + make all.

Favour and Fortune for me, happy with 20s.
Wellington Arch - does it concern you that the yard is not in the best of form?

I’m going to work on the assumption that Favour And Fortune is targeting the Scottish Champion Hurdle which it won last year so I’m letting it go here. I’m backing the next two because, although they are vulnerable to improvers, there is no guarantee that something will improve past them and those prices are huge. Serious Operator has a year’s absence to overcome but if a gamble develops I might jump aboard. I have backed Wade Out as a potential blot. I fancied it to be in the shake-up in the good Cheltenham novice race won by Sixmilebridge and the first three then are all in the 140s now. If Wade Out is around a 140 horse he’d be clear top on my figures and is a first-season novice with plenty of improvement possible. He returned to form last time in a very modest race for which he was the even-money favourite and he won by 19 lengths in a canter but the handicapper has taken a risk by assuming he only did what he was entitled to do and has left his mark alone. Kopeck De Mee remains the media talking horse – not his fault – but he’ll have to be as good as the literal conversion of his French rating should be to win. I wouldn’t be surprised if Punchestown or even the Greatwood-Schweppes route is being mapped out for him. Lastly, maybe some sweetie money on Minella Missile at huge odds is in order. He deserves to be that price on his current form but you never know with this trainer.

NJH said that CH couldn’t make all over 2.5miles against a distance specialist like Lossiemouth; that’s fair enough.

But maybe CH would benefit with a different pair of hands to steer him now.

I must admit, when I do a race like this and add in the current best odds and see so many runners at really big prices, I do get a wee tingle of excitement. When they then end up near the top of my ratings table it intensifies. This is the kind of race that requires a blunderbuss approach but I’ll have a decent win bet on Blue Lord because it might just outclass them all. Smaller win bets on Amirite and Bad are in order. After that, I want onside the likes of French Dynamite, Western Zephyr, Ash Tree Meadow, Dreal Deal, Ginny’s Destiny and Excello but my main fancy of the outsiders is Jetoile who has probably been targeting this all season and who is lobbed in on his best form. He went up to 150 for winning last season’s Old Roan and was only beaten 5 lengths off 145 in a £100+k handicap at Punchestown in the spring. I suspect that’s when this plan was hatched and they’ve done very well to get him down to 136 and the claimer won’t have any problem getting the weight down.
