Aintree

I can't remember a time when I didn't have doubt a about Thousand Stars winning a race. He runs 10th of 16 or 3rd of 4 beaten out of sight then suddenly he turns up and wins or runs like a champion. WM simply trains him on the racecourse with targets in mind and very seldom if ever fails to have him spot on when he wants him to be. He knows what time of year he is at his best and that is round about now.

So unless the horse has gone completely gone I don't see this being any different to previous attempts.

That said I was surprised to see him so big in the betting so it might be the unusually prolonged winter weather has delayed him peaking and word has filtered through to the bookies.

Like always with WM it's a bit of a guessing game.

Mullins stated this on 5/11/12

"He had a fantastic season again, but my only regret was running him at Cheltenham when I should have kept him back for the Aintree Hurdle. That’s the race I really want to win with him this season and he’ll be trained with that in mind. He’s been narrowly beaten in it for the last two seasons, so I’m planning not to send him to Cheltenham and just hope I can show enough restraint to bypass the festival and go straight to Aintree - Racing Post 05/11/2012"

small bet on grandouet. think these conditions will suit and he'll get the extra 4f. 9/2 will do.

going with these today....

Flaxen Fare
probably a forecast, SC to beat something, undecided yet
Thousand Stars
Warne
absolutely no idea
Changing Times
Jetson

good luck all!!

Cant understand how menorahs so unwanted in the market?and also the difference in wayward prince and quito de la roques price when the former beat him fair and square over c&d in december.

Irish saint for me. Rolling star has to get over a bad hard race and there's really not much between them all things being equal. Flaxen fare Is nterestng but he won at Cheltenham off 20 odd lbs less than these. It's asking a lot isn't it?

And the New One.

First Lieutenent must be as good an each way bet as there is at 4s? I don't even see that much between him and the favourite but see a huge gap between him and the rest. He will love the ground.

Flaxen might only have carried 10.7 in the Fred Winter, but did it easily in a time less than 2 secs slower than the Champion Hurdle. I don't believe another 7lbs will make a blind bit of difference.
There's a phobia about horses performing well at Cheltenham and failing at Aintree, but that's mainly down to the very different courses. Silviniano Conti has shown often enough that sharp tracks hold no fearfor him, and I can't see him beaten.
The Aintree Hurdle looks an accident waiting to happen, with the favourite needing to find nearly a stone, and the 2nd fav hardly able to stay 2m, anything could happen, imo.
Changing Times looks an e.w. bet to nothing in the 4.50, though.

Good day today for Nicholls after a crappy Cheltenham

2.00 Irish Saint
2.30 SC to beat FL
3.05 The new one too much toe for the rest 2.Zarkandar 3.country wide flame
3.40 warne/rebel de marquis/bold addition undecided which one yet
4.15 Rebel Rebellion (nap)
4.50 Carlito brigante

Does anyone have a link for today's racing?

Edit - it's ok, it's working now, phew.

FL deserved the win.Silviniaco always looked to be slightly struggling.

I thought the same.

Maybe the best 4/1 e/w bet there has been. It's allowed me to have decent e/w bets on Grandouet, Oscar Whisky and a smaller one on Thousand Stars. I like taking a view on a race like the Aintree Hurdle. (even if I am wrong and don't have a single place!)
