Aintree

Fair enough.

I just think it is unreasonable to expect him to be as accomplished a jockey as professionals such as Geraghty, Scudamore or Walsh.

He only rides a small fraction of the horses that they do.

I always say that if you think he is a positive for a horse, it is tantamount to saying that jockeyship is a skill that you don't really need to work to acquire.

Swc was ride of the day on Warne. Took a breather 2 out then left them for dead. Worst ride. BY on OW. Takes a pull at the last when bearing down on the leader. Cost him 3 lengths and lost by less than two.

I don't think anyone is saying he is on a par with Geraghty or Walsh (or McCoy). I don't think anyone is saying he is a positive except round the National course. Even I would accept that he is a positive round there but not over regulation courses. Maybe that's because he is first and foremost a horseman rather than a jockey and rides the horses to jump [here] rather than ride a race.

Commissioned ran a stormer considering the way he travelled early on.
Great ride by Carberry. And just when I had ruled Monbeg off my shortlist.
Fair play to Conti, not easy after a Gold Cup run.
TNO - Never in doubt really!

Struggling for an angle on anything tomorrow
Josses hill looks too short, Anything could win The Melling and The Topham looks a real pin job.

Couple of winners today, Guitar Pete and Warne from the 2 rides of the day so nice profit (left the last 2 races well alone).

The combination of a hard race in the Champion, the extra distance and a poor ride from STD, made TNO work far harder than he should have done.

(I'll not add his poor round of jumping into the reason for the narrow length of victory because he always makes mistakes and you have to factor that into the argument/price if you are backing him).

Josses Hill looks a shoo in tomorrow.

Also think it's a match between O'Faolins and The Holywell (Wonderful Charm won't stay and Don Cossack is a soft talking horse).

Then the card gets a lot harder!!!

quite sweet on holywell based on his run behind solwhit here last year after he won the pertemps.

many clouds also interesting if the rain falls tonight.

do think the card is, by and large, uninspiring tomorrow.

His only attempt at 3 miles he didn't stay, weakened 2 out.

He's shaped like a stayer to me but following this comment I have just watched the race again. He was never travelling and was being niggled from half way, I wouldn't base any opinion on the strength of that race.

Fox Norton is a fantastic specimen. Although I lost my jocks on him today I won't lose the faith. He just pulled too hard and wasted too much energy. He showed a weakness up the straight that another summer on his back should hèlp. He could be a monster.

Tomorrow retrieval mission:-

1) Lost Legend - really impressed me lto

2) Module - something has to win it!!!!

If anyone EVER slags off another Irish grade 1 they need to take a look at this meeting first.... A sack load of absolute shite Grade 1's

I'm prepared to give Don Cossack another chance. I backed him at Cheltenham and he was traveling sweetly when he came down. He definitely needs this longer trip to see him at his best.
