I’m tuning into these races, Hobbits, just to cheer your horse on! “On” to lose, of course.

Loved the O’Brien horse losing in the 1:50 at Donny.
it is just numbers for me @Len Madeiros

I pay very little attention to the Jockey's, trainers, stables, etc

The exception being Hollie Doyle, only because she is the single jockey I have managed to make money from when I used to back horses.

Leave "The Shire," (this thread), explore "Middle Earth, (the rest of the forum), you will find plenty of opinions in the appropriate (and even sometimes not so appropriate) areas.

Why, you could even join the discussions yourself.

Good luck.

LOL

Brilliant.
I tried looking at other threads, but some posts appear to be written by seasoned punters and I have no idea what they are actually saying 😳

I lack experience in this area.

For me to understand a Tip it would need to be written in a similar way to my posts

Instead of (for example) 1,4,6,9 = I have literally no idea what that means

I'd guess that an example like 1,4,6,9 comes from the Daily Picks thread, which gigilo uses for his selections in much the same way as you're using this one for your lays. I believe it is for use in a placepot where you are selecting all 4 horses based on their racecard numbers. This should come with a disclaimer that you'll end up with a £100 line to a £1 stake lol.

The "What are you backing today" thread and the individual race threads, provide more normal betting opinions.

Thank you @simmo

Races on Friday 12th September 2025 - First 3 picks

  • 13:50 hrs @ Dancaster - I am laying Frescobaldi

Caveats =

I Ignore prices the day before, they frequently change and are often misleading.

I am only interested in horses that I believe cannot win.

I often drop a horse from the list on the day, if the race is altered in any way;
  1. A stronger horse becomes a non runner on the day
  2. Rain does not prevent the race, but is unfavourable to stronger horses
  3. The jockey is changed on a stronger horse
  4. Worst scenario = Several horses become non runners
Finally, I always stop when I have achieved even a penny over my desired target, or if any of the above affects the remaining choices, whichever comes first.

Oh and ....

This is not a recommendation, I am just sharing my own opinion, not suggesting anyone else act on it.
