Cheers. I only had small stakes on but really pleased. Wonder if they'll go for The Ebor or keep him at 10F now. A good horse though.

Shitshow. Bless Him backed, had no idea the ******* race was on the round course. Wouldn't have touched him. TM only in a lucky 15 which is barely breathing now.
 
So if they run Teodoro in The Ebor I assume he would carry a penalty, yes?

Hungerford declaration stage tomorrow.

Roger Charlton's Projection is the one catching my eye. Top Score, taken out of The Lennox at Glorious Goodwood, is entered too.

I'm expecting a few of the current entries to be taken out tomorrow.

I have no plans to back anything yet, but will be keeping an eye out for Projection and Top Score.

I've already backed Dream of Dreams for this. A bit premature, I did him last Monday thinking the race was yesterday. Travelled like the best horse in the race in the Hackwood.
 
I think it's very risky backing ante-post at the best of times but with the weather as unstable as it is at the moment it wouldn't interest me at all.

On top of that, a lot of these G2/G3 races at less than a mile are little more than glorified handicaps. I'm happy to wait until the day before deciding to bodyswerve them :)

Respect, though, for having the cojones to go in early!
 
The St Wilfred looks a good race to have a bet in this year. Eve Johnson Houghton trains an excellent horse called ICE AGE, who won two valuable races, including one in Ireland at the Curragh, off a mark of 91 & 96 last season. This horse has stepped up again this season, now rated 106, winning a couple of decent sprints, and so would carry my money in this race. Like many good horses Ice Age goes on most goings. Ice Age finished third in a little conditions race behind Top Score and a Roger Varian winner the last day, but should do better now stepped up in another big field handicap. 20/1 with Ladbrokes and Corals, quarter the odds, the first four each way.

YORK EBOR HANDICAP - This is another prestigious handicap race which I've had a provisional look through. I'll just cut to the chase and put forward the horse I believe can get there to run well on the day. TEODORO looks to still be improving: He's trained by Tom Dascombe, has slowly worked his way up the handicapping ranks, and ran creditably in fourth place when 3/1 favourite at Haydock the last day. This was his first real attempt at top handicap level so it was no disgrace to finish fourth. His overall profile shows he can win at different distances and can win from varying race positions too, when being held up or alternatively racing prominently. These attributes put him in good shape for a crack at The Ebor. He didn't have the turn of foot in the closing stages, (over 1M4F), but my feeling is that he'll improve for a stronger pace and the step up to 1M6F.

So there you have it - The York Ebor winner in three weeks, currently available at a pony 25/1!

Generally 14's now, which looks the right price, at this stage. Has Tom Dascombe said anything about going for The Ebor since his win last Saturday? I can't find anything?

In theory, 14/1 is far too long a price for a horse that will be officially 9lbs well in. (He carries a 4lbs penalty on top of his original OR 101 but has gone up to 114 for Haydock.)

However...

a) I would certainly be concerned that having failed to win over 12f he was brought back to 10f and broke the track record.
b ) He and Brorocco were among the bottom-rated horses for that Haydock race yet they were clear at the finish with lots of better horses (on ORs) well beaten. It seems the handicapper has taken the form fairly literally but it might be that the race the other day was a bit iffy.

After witnessing his last run, albeit over ten furlongs, I wouldn't want to back any other horse.

Cosmelli must have been ballotted out of the ebor as i got my money back and also in my little yankee.
My 25p ew yankee returned £73.44
 
Better than a kick in the teeth, well done. Teodoro and the favourite Stratum both declared for The Ebor today.
