Ante-Post Punting Plans/Propositions Thread.

The prices on decs were crazy with Kelami at 2/1. I've put Arrest in a couple of multis and have backed said Haggas horse at 5s. I think this is a two horse race.
Agree completely.
They clearly believe Arrest's a classy colt, judged on his Leger and Arc entries,so I've played around the f/c (6.39/1) and the single on Klondike.

Is Adelaide River a likely non-runner in the Great Voltigeur? 10/1??

If Adelaide River does run that 10/1 could be one of the bets of the season. I can only assume it isn't going to run.

Another price that, I reckon, is totally wrong is the 10/3 on offer generally about Mostahdaf in the Juddmonte. Paddington is undoubtedly admirable but he needs to find another 6lbs to get to Mostahdaf [on my figures]. I have got stuck in. If M runs his race and P beats him, fair enough, no complaints, but I just cannot see that happening.

The race has cut up a bit but I think the 5/2 now about Mostahdaf is still huge. Paddington at 1/2 is awful. I reckon Nashwa is capable of running him close.

But much will depend on the tactics and I'm not sure Crowley is a tactician. I can see Moore trying to make all on Paddington with York favouring front runners. He did so on the lesser High Definition two years ago and Mishriff raced in second with Baaeed held back a good bit. Mishriff kept on well for a clear second while Baaeed picked him up and left him for dead. I'm aware Mostahdaf isn't quite as good as Baaeed and Paddigton is a lot better than High Definition but I'm not sure he's much, if any, better than Mishriff's best.

I still think 5/2 is totally wrong. I'd have him favourite.

I find it quite a difficult one. On the one hand you have the busy, busy Paddington who keeps on getting there without actually setting the senses tingling. On the other is Mostahdaf who doesn’t seem to like racing too much, needing bags of time between races (which he’s got) to run to his best. Of the two, it’s probably Paddington who might have more under the bonnet than we have seen as yet and he wouldn’t need very much to match Mostahdaf and I agree that the differential in price doesn’t reflect the relative merits. I don’t rate Nashwa at all (so there’s your winner, then )

Reckon Mostahdaf will have too much toe for Paddington and looks a good bet.

It completely escaped my attention that Crowley isn't riding Mostahdaf; Dettori is, so my enthusiasm is enhanced. Frankie is still the best when he wants to be and he will want to be here.

Chuffed.

That will make sure I end the entire meeting in front.

Weights out today for the Ayr gold cup.
SUMMERGHAND went up 5lb for his 2nd place last Saturday to 102.the mark he won off last year so doesnt want to win on saturday and get a 5lb penalty.
But he won this race last year so maybe the 50000 will be hard to resist.all adds to the excitement.

MR WAGYU is still the well hcapped horse at the moment off 95.
Down to run saturday and theres a chance of the curragh in a fortnight.
Saturday is 50000
Curragh 90000.

Badri should improve again for the step up to 6F in the Stewards Cup at Goodwood after running well in second place over 5F today at Ascot. He's a progressive type who is still on a workable turf mark I reckon, especially after putting that no show on the all weather behind him. Most importantly he's shown he has a very good turn of foot over six furlongs. I think this race at Goodwood will suit him.

Before that he beat the well touted My Wagyu at Epsom over 6F. Hopefully the handicapper won't raise him too much for his second place today...I am hoping for 2 or 3lbs maximum. He's bumped into a very well handicapped 3 year old filly from the Richard Hannon stable today, but it might end up helping him as he shouldn't get raised as much.

I've no idea of the likely field, but I like an anti post stab in the dark every now and then, so Badri looks like being my next anti post project in the Stewards Cup.

I believe BADRI has switched to Julie Camacho's yard now. He did run very poorly at Goodwood, but I think he hated the ground. He's entered up at Gosforth Park on Thursday evening which is his favourite track by the looks of it. He's a three time Newcastle winner. I'll see how they price it up and what is actually declared tomorrow. I'll probably take a chance on Badri back at Newcastle though.

Another tracker of mine is SNASH, who returned to good form the other day after a very slow start to the season. Snash is on the type of mark to run in the Ayr Bronze Cup, but as with Badri, he has excellent all weather form, winning twice from two starts on the artificial surface, a record which should make him a live contender if declared to run at Newcastle. Maybe he can win this on his way to the Ayr Bronze Cup. Maybe that's looking too far ahead. We'll see.

Virgin bet hcap sandown Saturday

Dual identity 25/1 not certain that 1m2f at sandown suits but he might need a penalty to get in the Cambridgeshire.
At that price I have to have a bet.
9nly bet 365 so far.

Snash declared (7.15) and Badri aswell, (8.45).

Looking forward to seeing how they do. David Allan booked to ride both horses funnily enough.

Upon checking this morning I'm pleasently surprised both these have shortened, Snash in to second fav now.

I've beat the prices so now for beating the bookie then eh.

My local track aswell. Fingers firmly crossed.

Snash disappointed.

Badri ran a fine race, making several lengths up on the eventual winner, Alligator Alley, who we know is a very good horse on his day. Alligator Alley was prominent throughout this time. Badri was giving him 9lb in weight aswell.

Where next for Badri I say!

Alligator Alley broke the course record in doing so as well.

They're both entered again in the next racing league meeting next Thursday at Wolverhampton.

It would be interesting to see how they fare, given Alligator Alley will surely go up more in the weights or carry a penalty of some sort.

That's a smashing price you got, Outsider. 9/2 tops at the moment. I haven't backed it (or anything...yet) today but have taken 33/1 for the Cambs because if it does win today it will be slashed to about 14s.
