Black Caviar

Martin, other less well versed people might have nodded and agreed but there's no pulling the wool over your eyes!!!!

He literally disappeared out the back of the TV though :)

with all this confidence behind all these horses I can see tears before bedtime one evening in June

i'd rather make money everyday than wait to take on a lock in a months time

I don't get the desire for Frankel to meet Black Caviar, I'd sooner see Frankel tried over further, and I am disappointed that he hasn't been entered in the Irish Champion Stakes.

Quote from Walker's article,

"Sea The Stars didn't have one standout moment and let's not forget how quickly he fell out of favour once Frankel turned up. Folks outside racing have forgotten John Oxx's colt already, if they ever knew of him"

The fact is that the Irish trained Sea the Stars was never going to get a fraction of the attention from the non racing media in Britian that Frankel trained by Sir Henry would get.

It'll probably be Frankel vs Camelot before too much longer, as a more realistic and better match. Or even Frankel vs Cirrus De Aigles, who is rated the same as Black Caviar at the moment.

Not that it really matters but if we are talking Timeform Steve Cirrus De Aigles is rated the same as Excelbration 3lbs below Black Caviar. That's a massive 10lbs he'd have to find and his short didtance defeats of SNA and So You Think don't look good enough.

If Camelot wins the Derby I suppose he might take Frankel on but he'd have to be very very impressive for AOB to consider it.

I can't see Camelot not going for the King George arace in which Frankel certainly won't run and after that Camelot I would imagie would be put away for the Arc.

There's also a chance AOB might send Camelot for the St Leger/the Triple Crown.

It hasn't been done for a very long time and although its' not fashinable these days Camelot if he wins the Derby has an opportunty to showthe Breeders he really has it all.

That could be an easy option with as much prestige attached to it as winning the Arc.

I can't see AOB risking Camelot's unbeaten record and missing a major target just to get his ass kicked by Frankel.

As far as Frankel V Black Caviar is concerned there is more chance of George Foreman regaining the world heavyweight championship crown.

Peter Moody has no interest whatsoever in taking Frankel on. NONE!!!!

On the back of hearing that Sir Henry said he'd love for them to meet in the Sussex which was very brave of him ater he knew what Moody's feeling on the subject were.

It's all just bravado and no way will they clash. As MNoody says why the hell should we run over and extended distance, on some run down dirt track, in the South of England just to please a few poms..that's Auusie for go f*** yourselves:lol:

They wont meet. We should also remind the convicts that sprints are quite entertaining but really dont matter very much

The fact that you are laying an odds on shot a month before the race gives you an extra edge.I don't see much of a premium in BC's price-any half decent bookmaker will be laying her on the day.

They may not to us but their whole breeding industry is geared around speed.

Winning the Golden Slipper is like winning the Derby down under.

i don't see that it gives you any edge..in fact exactly the reverse..if horses drop out you are likely to see even shorter price for the fav

If he got within a couple of lengths over 10f it would be a reputation enhancer. Not forgetting that whatever Frankel achieves is good for Coolmore anyway.

The valid opponents to Black Caviar from the 57 entries for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes have yet to be highlighted by her layers. It's the Temple Stakes today and time to get your hindsight in early.
What scenario surrounding Bated Breaths performance at Haydock today will see him put up as a threat to Black Caviar

1) An impressive rout of the field at a trip below his best
2) A scrambling victory at a trip below his best
3) A narrow defeat after travelling well
4) A narrow defeat after being flat out all the way
5) A mid field posi non remarkable run
6) Actually, any of the above

Factor in some random variables as you see fit to make your case at 50p per extra topping

Ground bias / draw bias / pace bias / fitness advantages / jockey error / value

Black Caviar would certainly know she'd been in a race if she came up against the first and second in the Temple.;)

Well done Roger Charlton,

Gave that Aussie no mark a lovely word of warning "we knocked 1.60s of track record"

;) ...thought I had read it well enough.

Not sure how that franks it given Little Bridge and Curren Chan didn't run at Haydock unless I am majorly mistaken?

You've missed the point I was making about the Golden Jubilee antepost prices Steve.

Got to be a good chance he will dodge Black Caviar and go for the Kings Stand. Charlton suggested it beforehand, and now he's won it looks even more likely!

The fact that Charlton is likely to dodge Black Caviar and go to the Kings Stand says it all doesn't it . . . ?

That's a shame Goober if Charlton does go for the King Stand because I think he'd be run off his feet if America throw in a few 4.5f horses and the race may happen too soon for him.

You know what ( you know what, I've just fallen into the latest trend of starting sentences with you know what ) Bruce, you might be right. Horses can sometimes throw in apparently improved performances below-trip first time out. Their freshness and exuberance allowing them to travel with apparent ease at what has been thought to be a trip below their best. Then, deciding to stay at the shorter trip for the second run, they revert to type and get done for toe a bit. It happens across all distances. Twelve furlong horses winning over ten first time out then go up in class at ten for their next run and get chinned.
