Bloodstock 2011

...that they're dodgy, or that it's questionable they are legs!:)

Over at the knee, long pasterns, underrun heels, weak second thigh, poor hock angulation....

Over at the knee I can cope with - do agree his pasterns are on the long side and about heels. But I have seen alot worse! Probably trainable so long as you don't hammer him - how straight is he from the front?

Dodgy indeed... Mark Johnston is a bit of a specialist in knowing if such defects will stop it running (he'll buy horses cheaply that others wouldn't touch with a bargepole, with some success)... but i'll admit it doesn't look good to me. Novelty value only I'd guess.

trying to think of something nice to say about that coloured.

struggling !!!

Its markings are pretty - but thats about it IMO - not for me. (which is lucky, cos that leaves the way for someone else to take it !! :D )

Thank you, have the Northern hemisphere buyers had enough of High Chap ?

Jeremy has been very short on winners, that must have been a nice individual.

Don't forget that a bit over-at-the-knee used to be considered a plus point, especially with NH/hunter types, supposedly indicating a strong front leg. But they were supposed to be coupled with short cannons, which the paint ain't. He's got a shoulder to match the straight pasterns and a poorly set-on neck, all of which should mean that he'll have a choppy stride and hold his head fairly high. Let down, he won't, 'cos he can't. Oh, well, he'll probably turn out to be another ATTRACTION after that slagging-off!

He is quite odd looking...still find it hard to think he's a TB. Hopefully the new owners can have a bit of fun with him.

11k?? Seriously? I could have happily spent that on several others who might make it to the track.

As to over at the knee; I find it forgiveable when slight and the shoulders & pasterns are good in angulation.

Yup - doesn't track up and I can't see how he will when his build is all agin him. I feel a bit sorry for him, to be honest, as the cards are not stacked in his favour to be sound or to run effectively.

Shall I just cut the wait and start looking for a hacking home for it now?? ;)

An 11k coloured Thoroughbred? Even if he's useless on the track, some misguided self-styled 'sports horse breeder' who rates colour over conformation and soundness will stand him at stud somewhere for the sheer novelty value.

On another subject entirely: great weekend for Galileo, who notched up a transatlantic Group/Grade 1 "Queen Elizabeth" double, with Together finally notching a top-level success in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland last night.

I did think that Cruella - but (stupidly, I am well aware!!) Im hoping that nobody would want to breed from something like that.... as you rightly say though - some of the sports horse fraternity looking for novelty will do - they did from my friends 17/18th coloured TB years ago, and they will still in a few years. (mind you - Lads conformation was WAY better than this chap's) guess it will be the draw of being an overo rather than a tobiano that gets mares rather than anythihng sensible like shape....

I take it its the coloured bit that made you comment on my (not totally tongue in cheek) post rather than the price he made??
