Bloodstock News

FORMER Godolphin Group 1 winners Moon Ballad and Grandera have been sold to stand at Kenneth Cullinane's and Deirdre Lusby's Woodlands Stud in Ireland. They arrived at the Galway-based operation yesterday, having both spent their stud careers to date at the YushunStallion Station in Hokkaido under the Darley Japan banner.

Good old Grandera, what memories he has left me...... so grumpy and made us all smile as he muched his way through several unsuspecting vistors. :D

Can we have a new thread for Bloodstock 2010? Last year the RP reported on high profile arrivals - Authorized's first foal etc Does anyone know a uk site with details of the new arrivals? - it is also a good opportunity to find out who is covering the mares

its the place where we went to visit germany and court masterpiece. bit of a funny place, but they seem to have good contacts with the sheiks.

No surprise to hear High Chaparral will be shuttling to Australia later in the year...

BY BLOODSTOCK WORLD STAFF 4:37PM 28 MAR 2010

HIGH Chaparral will join Coolmore's Australian roster later this year after making a strong start to his stud career in the southern hemisphere.

The stallion's first southern hemisphere crop of three-year-olds, which were conceived at Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand, contain the Group 1 winners Monaco Consul, So You Think and Shoot Out. As a result, he is currently the leading sire of three year olds in Australia and New Zealand by prize-money.

"What he has achieved in such a short space of time in the Southern Hemisphere is incredible," said Coolmore Australia general manger Michael Kirwan.

"Not only is he the sire of the highest rated three-year-old in Australasia in the shape of Cox Plate winner So You Think, but he is also the sire of Group 1 winners Monaco Consul and Shoot Out, meaning that he has sired three of the top eight three-year-olds in Australia this season."

The Derby-winning son of Sadler's Wells has sired 18 stakes winners worldwide in total including Sunday's Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial winner Noll Wallop.

High Chaparral is standing the northern hemisphere season at Coolmore in Ireland for €15,000. He stood the past southern hemisphere season in New Zealand for NZ$12,000 (£5,661/€6,285).
