Agreed but credit to the winner...did not think he was good enough.
All I can say is DeKock is a master trainer....to get Eagle Mountain to run races like that at the end of the season back to back after such a lay off is a wonderful training achievement.
It wasn't Murtagh's fault if the pacemaker went too fast. The pace was self-defeating and set it up for the stamina horses - Conduit has won a Leger and like any such was a late developer - and is still improving hand over fist. He will be a *great* horse next year
Imo Ballydoyle should have got a local jockey to ride the pacemaker. Murtagh was cleary told to sit on the pacemaker's arse and not lose him and get boxed between horses - but it wouldn't have mattered, the ground is very firm out there and was never going to suit him
