Bumpers

Fascinated by this race but you have to wonder if See The World was really going that quick or the others were going incredibly slowly. I decided to time it took from when he got going again (level with the wings of the 2nd last hurdle) to the finishing line. I then did the same for when Jolly's Cracked It won the equivalent race last year which was also run on heavy ground. These are hand-timed so subject to some error but the results are interesting:
See The World 34.30 seconds
Jolly's Cracked It 33.57 seconds.

The time of Jolly's Cracked It race was also 6.5 seconds faster. See The World didn't seem to be stopping and it was visually stunning but he still has something to prove next time.

HawkWing and Perpetual will be interested to note from the same report that Otago Trail is being placed in the Supreme Rookies' Obstacle.

The bumper run at Newbury on Betfair Hurdle day is traditionally one of the strongest pre-festival in the UK & some really decent horses have come out of it. A few from the last couple of years:

2014 Definitely Red bt Tea For Two
2013 Oscar Rock bt Vago Collonges (Seedling 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] last but was with Egerton then...)
2012 Shutthefrontdoor. Gevrey Chambertin & Coneygree in behind
2011 Abandoned
2010 Al Ferof
2008 Mad Max

Iris’s Gift also won it back in the day...

I agree with you that Moon Racer looks the main English hope and in my opinion he's your fellow's most formidable opponent.

Eleven entries for the valuable bumper at Naas on Sunday.

Gigginstown own 5, Ricci owns 4 and Wylie owns 2.

It doesn't look like being a big field.

That entry says a lot about the state of Irish racing at the moment. There are more good horses in the country than at any other time in the last 40 years but they are concentrated in the hands of just a few owners.

Will be a fascinating race as much for who shows up as who wins. Thought Bordini was going straight to Cheltenham so surprised he's entered. They're not all going to run but some ideally need a bit more experiencenbefore Cheltenham and this is the last chance - entries in by noon Tuesday. Au Quart De Tour (16/1) and Stone Hard have both been drifting on the exchanges for some reason. I think this is the race when Up for Review goes to the top of the market although it wouldn't be the biggest shock and would certainly be ironic if Elliott won it with one not going to Cheltenham (allegedly) - Tycoon Prince.

Hasn't he bought Supasundae for this and sent him to De Bromhead?

Hadn't heard this Paul, but Supasundae looked the best of the English for me. I wondered at the time did W.Mullins sent Rio Treasure for a sighter to that Ascot race. On a strict form line Chroniclandlords fancy "Stone Hard" looks well ahead of Supasundae. As for me Pylonthepressure is the one to beat. Tony thats one to cross of your list .

Anyone heard any news on wishfull dreaming?looks to have disappeared of most ante post lists

Nothing definite but Gordon Elliott has said that Jetstream Jack (same owner) definitely goes and with Wishfull Dreaming being a 4-year-old and Hobbs having Wait For Me it may well be he's less likely to go. Potts bought Supasundae and De Bromhead has indicated he's going to run. Entries out next Tuesday - not that it will tell us a lot (Mullins will likely still have double figure entries at this stage and then get focused at the 5 day stage)

I like the horse but Supasundae's head must be in a spin by now :) Andrew Tinkler rode him for Tim Fitzgerald Barry rode him for Balding and he ends up in Ireland?

Something tells me if he was a Cheltenham horse he would have ended up at Seven Barrows...........anyone know what the circumstances of the sale were?

Recommended, and a private sale Fist.

I like Pylonthepressure as well Brian so Tony's doubly screwed! I'll have saver on Moon Racer though.

I am another for Pylonthepressure, on the very limited bumper form to go on & through Space Cadet & Falcon Crest must be a leading player
