Bumpers

Really is a lovely site Paul and I really hope you get in and he runs well for you.

Thanks Aragorn. Appreciate that. The Racing Post ratings have him well out of the 24 but Timeform has him on the cut line. It's going to feel like a long week waiting for the 5 day declarations and then for the handicap ratings. It's very interesting that the two Irish bookmakers, Paddy and Boylesports have him at 20/1 which puts him in the top 20 comfortably; I have new respect for their intelligence and knowledge :D

Paul, the piece on your site about RPR v Timeform ratings in bumpers is spot on.

Regarding the race itself, a large portion of the field have done their winning by making all on an uncontested lead and dominating their opponents. They're probably experiencing more competition at home than they've seen on the racecourse.

Some of know to our cost that the Champion Bumper is a rough race and you need a horse that can handle himself. For this reason I especially like Moon Racer, who on his Fairyhouse debut (at 50/1, incidentally) met interference but was then brave and willing enough to go through a tight gap between the leaders and get away from them. The form of that race has stood up well, and the race he won at Cheltenham in the autumn also looks strong. Moon Racer made all that day. Winning his two races in contrasting styles shows he is tactically versatile and amenable, which should be a big help in the hurly burly of a big field where the competition for a prominent position early is likely to be fierce.

Paul's horse Bay Of Freedom also had to win a scrap coming into the straight at Galway, and the way he came up the hill there suggests he'll be staying on nicely when others are fading.

That is a real good post Grey, having not yet seen Moon Racer's two runs (I must get round to checking them out), personally I like the way his price has held firm considering lto was in October, I may have t dethrone Frontrunner as Bumper King, I think he has let the accolade go to his head

Completely agree Grey. When you factor in his (then) trainer saying he was only 75% fit at Fairyhouse and his proven form on the likely ground, he has to have a major chance.

Our two new bumper horses Miss Eyelash and Red Six are both ready to run and Miss Eyelash will be first running in the mares bumper at Southwell on the 16th

Bay of Freedom is in on the number; we're in the Champion Bumper. Apparently dreams do come true. Thanks to everyone for your support. Now the pressures really on!
