Champion Hurdle 2014

Hurricane Fly should be 1/4 for Champion Hurdle, he's more of a banker than Big Bucks, only has to turn up.

Hey, cop yourself on! Don't let facts get in the way of a good story

They went a slow pace at Kempton until the straight yet a couple of decent types were completely destroyed.

The Xmas Hurdle reads better from a form standpoint and that doesn't even factor in that HF's best form is in Ireland.

BET365 have The New One favourite.

ARE THEY ABSOLUTELY ******* STUPID?

HOW THE **** IS THE THE NEW ONE FAVOURITE

18 GRADE 1S VRS SOMETHING THAT'S BEEN SMASHED IN THE CHRISTMAS HURDLE...

Sametegal rated 150 beaten 28L in the Xmas Hurdle

Captain Cee Bee rated 149 beaten how far there, maybe 10L?

CCB ran a cracker from the front and hurdled great, Sametegal made a bad error and was never a factor after that, very differently run races.

The Fly deserves the headlines today though Our Conor will come on a ton for that, great CH to look forward if they all get there.

I am going for a lie down - he has won TWO Champion Hurdles for heaven's sake. I don't think figures mean much Kauto Star won 16 Grade 1 races but many were far more competitive than those HF has won but he remains an exceptional hurdler and he was as good as ever today .

The worry for the others is perhaps like Sea Pigeon he is getting better at 10 !!!

Exactly. I already knew My tent will beat HF, today just showed the Irish challenge may not be that hot. HF 7/8 pounds better outside Cheltenham.

MTOY will have a prolapse as soon as The Fly draws level and eyeballs him.

I feel JEZKI was unlucky, he still may have not won but would have been close. JEZKI was blocked in at a crucial stage and by that time the HURRICANE had blown the rest away, the betting was indicative of the confidence behind the expectations.

Not to mention that the alarming drift of OUR CONNOR told it's own story, he will surely improve. I do not think the HURRICANE will win either the Irish champion hurdle or at cheltenham. ISTABRAQ could not win the champion hurdle at 9 years old, it is hard to believe the HURRICANE will be winning it at 10, against his strongest opposition yet.

Surely the 10/1 of OUR CONNOR and JEZKI will not last long.

THE NEW ONE flies up the hill and at this stage is a worthy favourite:)

I haven't seen race yet but mtoy really surprised me with resoltion on boxing day and was frankly a different and improved horse. He won't fold under a challenge from hf or anything else I believe

didn't cost him anything today and he's ok but look at copper in last race there at leop - class act and you'd trust him to do the right thing in a champ

Jezki ran a smasher I thought. Would have preffered a faster pace and got hemmed in at a crucial stage. Will he beat HF at Cheltenham? I'm not sure, but he'll be a good each way bet on the day.

As a race for assessing the merits of leading contenders for the CH this was totally unsatisfactory
Once Jezki was trapped behind OC and CCB he lost all momentum and wasted a lot of energy. By the time McCoy gets out HF has flown and it is almost inconceivable that any NH horse could give HF that advantage and still win.
As for Our Conor, those that backed him for today's race should feel pretty aggrieved. Clearly not fighting fit nor put in the race to win.

I have Jezki tinted glasses but I saw nowt to change my opinion.

add. Haven't seen 10/1 otherwise my AP portfolio would be significantly increased

Harrington was interesting in her post race interview - I suspect CCB will reappear in his pacemaking role in the Irish Champion and they will make much more use of Jezki ,sit close, and attack earlier . That may , however, suit OC and HF just as well for different reasons.

Somebody in the Harrington stable whom I spoke to after today's race said he expects - and hopes - that AP will plump for MTOY :D

He reputedly had one last year - when beating Jezki the same distance HF did today. :)

Admin, any chance we can have an avatar for either 'blowing-a-raspberry', 'circling-finger-round temple' or 'mong-face'?

If so, can you add as an auto-reply from me, to all further posts from reet. Ta.

:D

I suspect you're probably referring to reet's post and the distances between MTOY/Jezki and HF/Jezki? If so, not even reet is suggesting these should be taken literally - he's just making mischief, and got a response similarly lacking in seriousness.

As far as who is 'losing' is concerned, the fight was stopped by the ref a long time ago - though some fish-wives have been too busy tending their nets to notice. ;)
