Cheltenham 2016

Someone else can sort the running order.

Supreme
Champion
Arkle
QM
Neptune
World Hurdle

RSA
Gold Cup
WH Chase or what ever it is now. (Maljimar ffs race).
County
Coral Cup
Grand Annual

If things get bad some day, and Cheltenham has to be reduced to a two-day festival, which dozen races would you keep and would you change the distance or conditions of any of them?

Supreme
arkle
champion hurdle
Ryanair
JLT
queen Mum

neptune
rsa
gold cup
stayers
grand annual
county

Have ye forgotten about all those wonderful wins by Nina and Garde Champetre or AP storming home on Witchata Lineman........leave the festival alone I say...........However the addition of a novice championship race for mares looks like a good addition to me and Aintree should follow suit......Maybe less will go into early retirement to the sheds with a decent race or two to be winning?

I`d leave it as it s and include the mares race. Look how good Galways was . And the bumper grows on me every year. Don't talk of getting rid of it, at least wait until I win it

In my defence I think I've got the Foxhunters and Cross Country mixed up, Euro.

Yeah keep the Foxhunters..

I'd happily wave goodbye to the Fred Winter
It's the biggest pin job in the whole NH season.

Agree although it has made the Triumph a much better betting medium.

Having a share in a 3yo aiming at Cheltenham, I'm quite glad it's there because he's quite a size and might just be better with a big weight in the FW.

I'm surprised how attached most of you are to the handicaps, my choice would be to get rid of them all if we were reduced to a two-day meeting.

I was in favour at the time of introducing the extra novice races but not any more. Their introduction has coincided with a concentration of talent in a handful of stables and merely allows their best novices to avoid each other.

After more than twenty years many of you still don't get the Bumper! I would at least triple its value and designate a dozen races through the season in Fr, Irl and UK as 'win and you're in' events.

I would keep, in no particular order:

Supreme
Neptune
Arkle
Sun Alliance
Champion Hurdle
Stayers Hurdle
Cross Country - as a championship race, upped in value, not a handicap
Bumper
Foxhunters
Gold Cup
Champion Chase
Mares Hurdle - 2m3f

I would drop two championship races, the Ryanair and the Triumph Hurdle. The Triumph is a championship race and provides an avenue into jump racing for young flat horses, but most of them burn out and few enough go on to perform well in open company. The Ryanair is a consolation race, and there would be no room for it in a two-day meeting.

Get rid of bumper, mares hurdle,Fred Winter,Martin Pipe and Albert Bartlett.Get rid of the two novice chases on Thursday and run the 4 miler under its old conditions.

With regard to handicaps the Coral Cup is an excellent addition to the festival-the Kim Muir never fails to bore me.

I make most profits on handicaps, but if I'm to choose which races I'd keep for 2 days of course i'd drop them in favour of the graded ones.

Warning to anyone who might take one of these out, but membership for the Best Mate enclosure (opposite the main stand) is discontinued as of this season.
