Cheltenham 2016

Saturday afternoon I found myself standing beside beside Charlie Brooks as we were both sheltering from the rain in the Vestey Bar and I noticed him making copious notes about something.

Now I know what

Members has always been very busy so I don't see that changing. His view about rebuilding the rest of the course...I thought that was always the plan. This is just phase one in a full redevelopment.

Weights announced next Wednesday. Has the look of a cracking renewal, and I'd be surprised if it isn't a very compssed handicap. Bottom-weight could be 11-2!

The Faugheen of fu*ckwits.

How is a 2m4f championship hurdle going to "supplement" the Aintree version rather than rivalling it? - and no mention of the impact it would have on the Champion & World Hurdles. Following that we'd end up with a 2m2f version...

Get rid of bumper, mares hurdle,Fred Winter,Martin Pipe and Albert Bartlett.Get rid of the two novice chases on Thursday and run the 4 miler under its old conditions.

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a row I can tell you that I have one ready to start. What I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make bumpers a nightmare for layers like you. If you forget about cancelling the bumper now that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you."

I must have overlooked the fact that Archie had started a 2016 Cheltenham thread, even though I had contributed to it, I'll ask Col to merge the two threads

They're too much hard work and when Irish stables win them it leads to complaints :)

Do the stats support the assertion?

And are they really hard work? 95% of the handicap form is in the book and, regardless of the odds, the winner is usually not too much of a surprise. It's just a question of choosing the right one(s) from a long/short list. That doesn't necessarily make it hard, just a question of luck being with you or against you.

The fields for the handicaps at Cheltenham are always big and very competitive and there been plenty of occasions where a big handicap has been discussed for days on the forum and no one finds the winner. But to each their own, I know from your record that you do well in them overall.

After yesterday's racing I promised myself I will never look at a bumper again.

couldn't have VV on my mind to win a race like the PP..record in races with 7 or more runners = 2252233344..with 6 runners or less = 2311121111

He wasn't particularly on my mind, but if he was (say) 7lbs well in, then he would have merited a second-look. It doesn't matter anyway, if DG's update about the Tingle Creek being the target, are accurate.

Is it just me or are all these David Pipe entries just a smokescreen for the fact that Dell Arca is the plot job of the year?:ninja:

Would have thought VV would go for the Shloer Chase if he does end up at Cheltenham
