Cheltenham 2017/18

David Casey ( he of the Mullins yard) on Monday night at a Cheltenham preview "VVM is flying"

Willie Mullins has revealed to the Racing Post. The nine-year-old, who was not among the confirmations for the OLBG Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham on Tuesday, has not been pleasing in her work.

Based on his course form, was going to put up North Hill Harvey as an EW play, but think the ground has gone against him and could see them waiting for a quicker surface in the Grand Annual

Also, if you want to play EW suggest getting on before the weekend as would be no surprise to see 6/7 runners

It seems the back straight is drying while the lower lying central sections are getting softer?

There's really not that much rain due after Saturday, and there is plenty of sunshine forecast on Sunday/Monday. There is also a strong drying breeze, with temperatures getting into double figures.

Partly Heavy might be right for Sunday)...........but it will be gone by the start of racing.

I look forward to a breezy update from Claisse on Monday morning. here's how it will go.

"We somehow managed to miss most of what was going around over the weekend...............blah blah blah............... 9 mills................blah blah blah...........course has taken it remarkably well................blah blah blah................I'd call if Soft all round right now..........blah blah blah.................getting warm and windy............blah blah blah.................I'd say we'd be soft-side of Good-to-Soft by the time we start tomorrow".

Word for word.

Including the blah-blahs.

and no Vroum Vroum Mag in the Mares. Is anything Willie says the truth ?

Looks like Ricci is getting in on the act when asked which of his horses he was most looking forward to he replied " Max Dynamite" in The county. Now favourite for the Coral Cup haha.

3k of 20k traded on the race exchanges for him 99% of that after Ricci's comments.

The Ricci's get rich whilst the rest get poorer :(

Still fav for the County as well though. Three bookies including Ricci's outfit still showing odds for Hunters Call on Oddschecker.

Yes but I think its the swing in the market mate he was fairly unconsidered for the Coral Cup and drifted quite badly on the exchanges for the county last night.

Might be wrong and tbh I've turned into one of those people who's spent more time watching markets than having my nose in the form book certainly not my usual M.O but just trying to gauge what is running where I suppose. Hopefully after the festivities I can get back to normal as it really isn't my cup of tea.

Rich "It's the Gold Cup or nothing" Ricci was on the act from scene 1.

Well allegedly the real ones although whether they are replicas as a security measure I'm not sure. They are usually displayed at the back of the hall in the Centaur on Festival Preview night and then in a room above the winners' enclosure during Festival week. Here's a comparison whaddya think ?

I'm leaving the moped and helmet at home, Toots. :) I reckon it's a faithful likeness but looks too small in DG's first photo to be the real thing.

As DG says, the real ones will be on show at the track and maybe you'll be able to quietly swap the trophy you'll be getting from Eddie for this one. Or maybe just slip it under your coat.

So, with 48hr decs when do people think we're going to see the best prices and when will the extra concessions kick in? It's going to be hard to keep the money in my pocket for 2 days but I know from previous years battle won't truly commence between the bookies until the day. I know Bet 365 usually go best price every runner for a period each day.

It's a tough call when to take the plunge.

I'd wait if you're thinking about backing anything towards the head of any market. Waiting for the offers is better. If you're backing ew prices in the handicaps I'd do it now if you think there's a risk of them shortening.
