Constitution Hill

Isn’t the point that you can claim your horse has strengthened-up all you like, but it hardly matters if its level of performance on the track hasn’t improved?

State Man is beating-up stayers with ease this season - as his best form would entitle him to…..but has he put in a performance in any of these G1s to suggest he can turnaround last season’s Champion Hurdle result? Emphatically no, in my opinion.

It’s also worth stating that Constitution Hill is both younger and more lightly-raced than SM, and is probably even more open to strengthening, improvement, whatever you want to call, than State Man is.

I agree.

State Man could well have a 172-175 performance in him but that wouldn't be good enough to beat CH's performance in last year's Champion Hurdle.

FWiW, I believe CH has a 190 in him if they want to let the handbrake off.

He is equally entitled too and has more scope too but he hasnt run in anything of note ,so I can't tell you anything new about him

C’mon, PJ.

We all know the trainer’s MO by now, and his absence from the track is largely meaningless as a result.

And we don’t need to know anytbing “new” about him. We already know he has beaten State Man 9L in a Champion Hurdle; barely coming off the bridle to do so. He could regress a half-stone, and likely still have the beating of SM.

In a thread and forum of late, largely devoid of any conversation, it would be good that we had more to discuss but we don't.

SM has run and hopefully does go to the race a better horse. Is it going to be enough to improve 10l, I am not naive.

And if ch were to regress half a stone and still win, it won't do much for this generation of hurdlers and him himself

Grassy, your long demonstrated antipathy to G1 multiple Grade One winning hurdlers trained by WPM is tiring. You need to get over yerself and move on.

From RP;
Constitution Hill had a nine-length advantage over State Man in last season's Unibet Champion Hurdle and he is a general 1-4 chance to repeat the result, with Henderson reporting an "exceptional" piece of work by the defending champion with less than three weeks to go until the showdown on March 12.

No word from Tanlic in 5 days; something must be wrong either with him or CH.
Any price drift yet ?

Something went badly wrong with my left arm and have been in constant severe pain for 5 days

Now I am on painkillers + doc gave me an injection.........very disappointed in Constitution Hill who never even sent me a get well soon card:lol:

Was watching a Willie Mullins interview and he has thrown the towel in before the race has even begun. You would expect for him to perhaps say State Man has improved but not a bit of it.

I just had a bet on the sportsbook both Sir Gino and Constitution Hill to win by 5 lengths or more 11/2. I expect Nico won't be trying any Paul Carberry's on either on them and it will be pedal to the metal fron 2 out

... it will be pedal to the metal fron 2 out

That's what I was backing last year. It didn't happen.

I'd love to see them really go for it but sometimes when you win in a really fast time it still bottoms a horse even when it looks easy. Maybe they're keeping the future in mind too. It looks a safe enough bet though that CH will win by at least five. Less sure about Sir Gino as there are more unknown quantities in that division.

It's a bit late in the day for a Triumph challenger as good as Sir Gino to emerge and even Wpm was impressed .I can't see any of his getting anywhere near Sir Gino dso I am fairly confident nothing will get near him..time will tell

Timeform's current top 10 juveniles. An 8lbs advantage is a fair bit (seven lengths) but the Triumph is still capable of throwing up a surprise, unlike the Champion Hurdle.

FWIW, I'm hopeful Burdett Road will get a lot closer to Sir G than last time.

I note Kalif Du Berlais higher in Timeform's ratings but when asked after his second win on BR, Harry C said Nicholls didn't have anything as good as BR and I don't think KDB will run in the Triumph in order to release Cobden for BR.

Geez. That should make the 10 o clock news...

The old enemy pricing horses up at odds on months before this meeting should be made a criminal offence.

The ante-post market for the Unibet Champion Hurdle has been suspended with all major firms on the back of an apparent disappointing workout by Constitution Hill at Kempton on Tuesday morning.
Bet365, Sky Bet, William Hill, Coral, Ladbrokes, Betfair and Paddy Power were among the bookmakers to suspend their betting for the Champion Hurdle.
Constitution Hill, whose owner Michael Buckley was in attendance, was partnered by Nico de Boinville for his all-weather exercise and was eased approaching the end of the gallop, finishing well behind Triumph Hurdle favourite Sir Gino and an unidentified stablemate.
Nicky Henderson requested for last season's Champion Hurdle hero to be scoped following the workout.

Ps: oops, sorry. desert already posted.
