Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

And ends his career with a win! Lovely horse and fondly remembered, by me, for winning a CH at 10/1 in 2012. I'd followed him all season that season, and he did well to serve it up to the Fly the next season and finish second.

I know it's selfish of me but he was a horse so loved by his connections [and the general public] that I'd reached a stage of wanting him to retire safe and sound. Happy retirement RoR.

Not a big name or a true departure but our trainer retired De Waiting Game earlier this week - he has a hoof problem but should be grand in a few months and looking forward to seeing him in a new home :-)

Could be another long absence for Simonsig

From ATR

Nicky Henderson is awaiting further expert opinion on the splint problem currently afflicting Simonsig.

The nine-year-old was due to contest last Saturday's Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown but he was pulled out of the race the day before after suffering a setback.
Henderson confirmed Simonsig's lameness is due to a splint, an issue which kept him on the sidelines for the 2013/14 season, but reports it to be unrelated to his previous injury.
He said: "We have taken X-rays this evening and they will now go off to be looked at and then the boffins will decide what we need to do.
"We know it's a splint and while he has had problems with this before - it caused him to miss quite a lot of time two years ago - it is on completely the opposite leg this time.
"It's not an uncommon problem in horses, but this doesn't seem to be related to his previous issues.
"Horses can have splints and it doesn't cause any problems, but unfortunately this flared up for him on Friday.
"He's sore on it and we will have to see what the experts say, I couldn't tell you how long it's going to be at this stage."
Simonsig also missed the 2014/15 campaign after a series of setbacks but made a promising return to the track when second behind stablemate Bobs Worth over hurdles at Aintree last month.

Its a Close Call was lost at Doncaster unfortunately.

Urubu D'Irlande passed away too. Shame, he looked very promising if exceptionally fragile.

Even if he only misses the rest of the season he'll still be 11 by the time he gets around to contesting any proper races and that's assuming he can get a prep run or two under his belt in late 2016.

Just retire him FFS. Much as we'd like to see him back it aint going to happen and if he does he'll surely never be the same horse.

Impressive Fixed Brush Haydock winner Baradari has had to be put down following a schooling fall. A sad loss for Skelton and Brooks.

Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures 2014

Breaking on Twitter ( so god knows how reliable, though Lots of the "real" people are tweeting it as well as mere mortals) that Coneygree is out for possibly the season with injuries to his hocks...
Though on the RP it's only mentioning the schooling season yesterday, so could all be made up silliness. Hope it is !!
