Equine Retirements, Long Term Injuries and Departures

Don't know - just saw it reported by the stud today. They had sold her a few years ago now, so might not know the details themselves - but if they do they haven't said. Big shame :(

Apparently he severed a tendon (do not understand why these trainers don't run their horses in reinforced boots in front - we ALWAYS use them pointing)

Also Battling Boru was pulled up with an injury that turned out to be life ending sadly.

Absolutely gutted to see that Red Cadeaux has been euthanised after suffering complications relating to the injury sustained in the Melbourne Cup. All the sadder for it looking as though he would pull through and enjoy a peaceful retirement. RIP Red.

What a heartbreaker. Had so hoped he would pull through following such initial positive news. Being reported that he will be laid to rest at Flemington.

RIP Red and thanks for the memories.

Has a horse of his ability ever been better campaigned?

He won just £1500 short of £5m in lifetime earnings, an extraordinary amount and took his connections all over the world. 'Only' £869k of his winnings came from races he actually won, and £710k of that came from one race, the Hong Kong Vase in December 2012. He hasn't won a race since, but he continued adding to his huge pile of place money, which came to more than £4m in the end. He was very durable, running in 54 races, more than 20 of them Gr1s.

At 9 years old he was on the decline perhaps and coming close to the end of his career but what a career it was and he was a credit to all who had anything to do with him.

Former Champion Hurdle winner Rock on Ruby has been retired after suffering a tendon injury following his win at Ascot on Saturday!
