Grand National 2023

Suny Bay is most definitely Spanish.

Like so many of the good guys on here he just got fed up with the shite that sometimes goes on. I think he still posts occasionally and we're still in touch privately very regularly.

And the horse was a tremendous specimen of a grey, humping top weight valiantly to the frame in the race.

And SUNY Bay always took the inner route where the jumping was more difficult: when they were proper fences, too.

Our Power just needs one to come out to get a run, so should have that going to bat for me at a very healthy price, at least.

The following have been scratched:
Ashtown Lad, Chris's Dream, Cilaos Emery, Conflated, Death Duty, Farclas , Franco de Port, Ga Law, Glamorgan Duke, Happygolucky, Hewick, Lord Lariat, Pencilfulloflead, Rapper, Remastered, Threeunderthrufive

A wee bit disappointed that Happygolucky has been scratched but I had NRNB so no harm done. As I said not long ago, I manged to cash out on Ga Law for a loss of only 5%.

Don't know if there's been a forfeit stage between the last time I looked and today but Frontal Assault is also out. Again, fortunately, I had NRNB.

Frontal Assault's been on my tracker since he finished behind Busselton in a novice chase last season at Punchy and I'm pretty sure Gordo has said he's better going right handed.

I’ve just checked my bets. Haven’t checked if they’re still running although some are obvious. Iwilldoit, Hill 16, Sam Brown, Happy Go Lucky, Coko Beach, Longhouse Poet, Francky du Berlais, Defi Bleu ( I back Defi all the time, he always seems to plod on and place at big prices…I love him),and Roi Mage. I’ve never been so out of touch and clueless about the National

I know people on here don't like that I go mob-handed into big races but it's an approach that serves me well. Each to their own, I reckon.

So with that in mind, this is my current ante-post commitment to the National:

Watching the race must be a nightmare - who do you watch? Do you work some sort of staking plan?

I was surprised that Elliot took Frontal assault out of both Nationals.is it injured.?

The early bets at longer odds are to modest stakes. These bets are mainly about getting them onside at attractive odds. The closer the race gets and the more confident I feel about the chance/value the bigger the stakes get.

It isn't that difficult to keep an eye on most of them, to be honest. I tend to focus during the race on the leading pack and glance back as they leave each fence. Usually by halfway a fair few will have been eliminated anyway

I seem good at picking NRs.
Just been having a look and I like the look and the price of EVOS OSKAR 100/1 boosted to 117.27/1 hills. 5 places
Ran 4th to Kittys light in the Eider giving away 10lb and carried 12 stone.
Carries 10 st 1 lb here.

I added that one at 110 on Betfair yesterday, Outsider.

If anyone has Members Club access to the Post, I would be very grateful if they could post the articles on Galvin/Delta Work and Our Power that are behind the paywall in today's 'News' section.

I appreciate this makes me something of a cheap-bum, and possibly even a hypocrite, but as these are two of my more positive traits, I therefore have little option but to roll with them.

Arguably, Galvin's win in the NH Chase is a better 3m4f+ performance than his second in the XC. Did come a wee while ago though.

If the rain can stay away and the race sees good ground, there would seem to be excellent chances of Back On The Lash putting in a strong run. Best at 80-1 with BF Sportsbook and PP, but soft ground will put paid to any prospects, and a wait seems very sensible unless playing small stakes and recognizing the risk.

Was showing little sign of stopping at the end of the three-and-a-half Grade 3 at Cheltenham last Nov, jumping the last well after a little fluff of the second last...and we know he can go further over the cross country course. By Malinas, every chance he'll have the balls to see it out well enough.

Needs 4 or 5 to come out to get a run.
