Jinny, I think you and many others are not taking these criticisms seriously. The whole racing game is getting a kicking here on a station that millions listen to.

Nasty video of Recite a Prayer and Galvin coming down when loose with the latter ending up in a ladder. Not sure how they ended up on the inside of the course like they did as the run offs are very carefully planned so possibly a gap was left open on the inside.

They ran out through the rails.could have been another Foinavon.
 
I wasn’t going to watch the race again ( although I didn’t actually watch it properly the first time) and I think they jumped the inner rail. It terrified me seeing them running on the inner track.
 
I think treating the protesters as cranks is dangerous. I can only see the protests getting worse as the years go by. Did not Ruby Walsh describe the race as little more than a 4 mile hurdle quite recently? It is 50 years since Red Rum`s first win but what sticks in my mind is Crisp virtually legless in the last few yards. Harrowing to see such a brave animal in that condition. What is the point of 4 mile races? And as for last years race the last furlong or so was just as harrowing with 2 brave but exhausted animals fighting out a finish "helped" by two jockeys absolutely leathering them with their whips. Shameful! As Ruby Walsh implied, the National has changed beyond recognition over the last few years. Personally, I would limit all races to a maximum of 3 miles and 30 runners. And as for the whip....automatic disqualification for excessive use.
 
But won’t that be the end of breeding horses with any sort of stamina? It’ll be all about speed with even more breakdowns.

Why doesn't presenter ask which horse and let's watch the race back together and count? Only way is to show these idiots up for what they are. Has anyone received a whip ban for hitting their horse 69 times?
 
One protester claims to have a broken collar bone...when I broke mine after three days I was still in considerable pain and my sling was not hung loosely round my neck.
One protester claimed to have been sprayed in the eye with pepper spray yet had remarkably normal looking face....I understood that if sprayed in the eyes, it’s pretty nasty.
One protester has claimed to have had a large chunk takeout if his leg by a security mans dog....no photo of this though.
They are surprised how roughly they were manhandled......effing good job I wasn’t there then!
