Irish Guineas Weekend

Steve

the problem with your reading of the Guineas is that
Homecoming Queen was not stealing the lead
she set a fast and was going away at the finish
if she was a bad pedigree in other stable I would be more doubtvius but stable doesnt mind with the fillies beating many times and non triers
she is well bred and ahs posted a good time
Peeping Fawn posted 70s performances at the beginning of her career and ended being top class

some other horses like Cirrus were moderate and once racing mnay times can become superb horses

about Beauty Parlour
she can improve when up in distance, but as much as fan I am I dont think she has the speed to be a top class miler

when a horse wins a classic by 9 lengths there is no dount for me there is an engine there

Takar

Oratorio ot a favorite of mine, but producing some fine horses

mum, old mare, good runner, able to produce a good horse even by Doyoun

light debut, preferred by Murtagh to Call To Batlle
good run second run posting a good figure(110p) dropped to 7f

good run first time out this season (107+),

has to improve but not out of it
looks like he likes cut on the ground.

8f should not be a problem

Oxx one to respect in any gr1

What do people make of Takar? Tired on his debut but has shaped very pleasingly since.

Massive step up in class. Seems short and I'd rather back Trumpet Major and even Daddy Long Legs at bigger prices. Have to respect connections I suppose.

Jet Ski Lady won the Oaks by 10 but was just a run of the mill Classic horse. Surely HQ is just as likely to end up like her as she is Peeping fawn.

small field and long distance race is not the same

and she was not a bad fillie, placed later in the irish and yorkshire oaks

he was hugely impressive on his second run all right. You must bear in mind that John Oxx ran Zabarajad in this race last year and was sent off 4/1. he ended up rated 99. I'd not be rushing to back given the massive step up in class required.

Rayeni was second in 2009 at 5/1 after just a couple of runs and also ended up as a sub 100 beast.

Going to leave Born To Sea & Power off their 2yo marks as I don't believe they ran to form in the 2000 Guineas whilst Takar looks the main improvement the race is certainly Parish Hall's to lose.

It will take more than a 100 horse to land the race on Saturday. Takar will be found wanting.

I think he means the 2000 Guineas. It's not a stat that would have me rushing out to back any of his tomorrow.

talk me out of backing Power

i'm happy to totally ignore the last run

Don't back Power...how's that:D Money has come for him - At least as good a horse as Parish Hall...may save on him despite his lame effort at Newmarket. Still Hermival for me as main bet.

I will allow you to back Power if you can explain to me in less than 100 words why he is a bet considering the merits of the form of the ten horses that followed him home in the Coventry.

dewhurst form makes PH a very similar horse

tbh..this race looks a total minefield

i'm playing the 2nd run back angle with Power..nowt else..the race looks unappealing to be fair

You completely failed to answer my question. Are you Bruce in disguise? :D

If you're going to restrict yourself to Coventry form then Trumpet Major has no chance. Which is obviously not true.

My overall point is that Power's form is not as solid as people would have you believe. Despite that I quite fancy him to be sent off favourite tomorrow.

It wouldn't surprise. I recall Tomahawk going off favourite in this. I'd expect Power to run much better than at Newmarket, but I still prefer Trumpet Major and particularly the Daddy (how he's almost twice the price if Wrote is a mystery).
