Irish Guineas Weekend

dewhurst form makes PH a very similar horse

tbh..this race looks a total minefield

i'm playing the 2nd run back angle with Power..nowt else..the race looks unappealing to be fair

There is no angle whatsoever in backing Power. It's a bet based on just thinking AOB will train the winner because he can basically do as I wishes when it comes to the Curragh.

There is always an angle when one or more horses are ridiculously short. Power and Takar should both be three or four points longer.

You can add Parish Hall to that list too....That's exactly why Hermival should be fav and is freely available at 5/1 11/2 ...he's the bet - get some...

The French horse was flattered at Newmarket - Abtaal pretty much being his exclusive pacemaker. I think Trumpet Major is still overpriced and I'm happy with the 6/1 I have on Parish Hall.

What's your angle on Parish Hall?

His pedigree suggests that anything he did as a 2yo would be a bonus. Montjeu is his damsire and is a massive influence for stamina. In short he has more scope than the animals he beat in the Dewhurst and whilst a mile isn't ideal for him now the Curragh is a stiff track and he should be staying on like a train towards the end of the race. He's my Derby horse so I would admit to a little bias there.

he isn't going to win though..even with the stiff track

A nice case for the derby but there have to be doubts whether he is going to be fully cranked up here if they decide to tackle the other race a week later, which could leave him vulnerable when they accelerate 2 furlongs out.

Depends what accelerating. a French yoke, a Group 2 horse trained by the same trainer as Canford Cliffs, a horse that was ran over at Newmarket or a John Oxx horse tilting at wind mills.

Was thinking more along the lines of Colm giving it a whirl from the front to see if he can detach himself from the field :cool:

Ryan Moore thoughts on Betfair;

Irish 2,000 Guineas
Any one from about six horses can win this, but if I had to ride one horse it would be Power. I would put a line through his 2,000 Guineas run and move on. Although he won the National Stakes with give, he simply didn't act in the ground at Newmarket. On his juvenile form he has every chance. He was unlucky when second to Parish Hall in the Dewhurst, but the winner is a tough, talented horse and shouldn't be underestimated.
Hermival, the 2,000 Guineas third, brings the best recent form into the race, while Trumpet Major is rock solid form and will like the better ground. I rode Wrote when he disappointed when third in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown last time but the step back to 1m on better ground will suit him.

Hugely open race but I've plumped for Trumpet Major. 16s about Daddy Long Legs looks big too - he was surely just looked after at Churchill and he's had the beating of Wrote (7s in places!) twice so far.

Wrote is the Ballydoyle 'morning glory' horse it seems. There was maximum confidence behind it on its last two runs.
